Anyone here familiar with a gun shop in Brooklyn (Bensonhurst) called D F Brothers Sport Center ?

Supposedly a brick and mortar store, I was searching web sites online for something in particular, and sent an email inquiry. I received a reply very quickly, but several things raised red flags in my cynical suspicious nature.

Reply was sent just after midnight on Sunday when the store is closed . . . . . .

The item I was searching for was purported to be in stock (reply of 'how many do you want?'), when no one else I've been able to find currently has any . . . . .

Forms of payment such as Zelle, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Cash Ap . . . but no credit cards listed . . . with a minimum online purchase amount of $100 . . . . .

A search to try to find the veracity of the legitimacy of the site was less than helpful and only muddied the water . . . .

Street address and phone number are available but these days that means little for an online shopper since scammers often co-opt these details . . . .

I've run across scammers that 'piggy back' legit sites, and the 'net is rife these days with fake online stores. Being older I admit it seems more and more of the electronic payment aps/programs are gaining in use, acceptance and popularity, but also being a luddite I'm suspicious of the ease it seems to offer scammers new opportunities. The lack of standard credit card listing raises flags for me.

So ..... anyone here from "New Yawk" that's familiar with this place if it exists? Am I being too paranoid about this one?

The odd thing is that the registrar for their domain has .eu as a top level domain. Also, the English on their web site is a bit off.

Maybe call their publicly listed phone number.

Yeah, saw all that. Was just hoping before I start jumping through hoops that I could find someone here with first hand knowledge.

I would be very surprised if there was a gun shop in that part of Brooklyn. Anything in or around Utrecht Ave is likely to be sketchy at best.

Thanks, guys. Just confirmed what my 'spidey sense' was warning me about. If it's too good to be true, it usually is. ;)

Google's street view confirms the Brick and Mortar store exists, though apparently the associated web presence is counterfeit. Phone contact probably best bet, using number on sign.
It's right across from my old high school (of Welcome Back Kotter fame) We sold our place a couple of blocks from there in 2019, but are unfamiliar with it. My Cousin Eric lives a block from there. If you have a specific request, I could ask him to check something out, if he's well enough.

Google Streetview shows it.

My favorite gun shop was in one of the sketchiest parts of Pittsburgh.

Just talked to someone at the actual store and confirmed they have no online presence, and they didn't have what I was looking for either. He did say the clown that put up a web site in their name had at least 14 other known such sites using the names and pictures of legitimate businesses, is a major scammer, and has the FBI interested in him.
It would be great if these guys were made high profile, well publicized examples of when they get caught.
Like I said, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is .

Beware the things that set off my alarms - merchandise at great prices that no one else seems to have, semi-popular methods of payments where your money is gone as soon as you turn it loose, and no standard payment options like money orders or common credit cards. These scumbags don't need a mask and a gun, just gullible customers who think they've found a great deal . . . . .

Google maps might sort some of this stuff out.
You can virtually stand in the street and look at the place with its street view feature, and they will often list the REAL contact info for said store ... if there is one

The clever thing with this scam is it uses a real address and business name, enough to trick many into believing the "online store" is legit.

yes ... but the scam relies upon diverting the mark from the legit contact routes to their own.
That's what we are looking for.
