Another new guy making introduction. Relatively old Marine, family man, grandfather of 7, still harboring youthful fantasies. Been a while since I joined a forum. Long time interest in the M1A (50 years actually since Boot Camp), which turned into infatuation with Vintage Marlin Levers & hyphenated calibers, then to even older Marlin Ballards and ultimately casting for all those, as well as shooting competitively in the BPCR venue. 16-18 years of undiagnosed Glaucoma got my attention finally before actually ending all that.

Glaucoma didn’t end the infatuation started by Roy Rogers and Hopalong Cassidy though. So… since I stopped roving the NW for BPCR matches, among some other forearm interests I’ve acquired a couple K-Frames, a model 28-2 and a Model 586 M-stamp. Most recently I saw a 686 I’ve asked questions about elsewhere here on the forum. I’ve had handguns most my adult life but mostly one at a time and without any depth of knowledge. So no pretense here.

Anyway, I figured with a handful of new interests I best join someplace where knowledge abounds just like I have in the past for other platforms.

Glad to join you and look forward to some reading here. John

Thanks for the welcomes. As for the “service”, it was my honor. Three brothers in the Corps before me, (three counting a brother-in-law) gave much more in Vietnam with 13 months in the bush. I can honestly say I got better than I gave.

I’ll have to update my profile. For the last 17 years I haled from either Idaho or Oklahoma depending on the month and grandson’s wrestling season. With the eyesight problem I had to withdraw from one - and family is all in Oklahoma. So greetings returned to you all from the old Indian Territory.

Welcome from the Great Lakes, where four out of five of them prefer Michigan.
However, they prefer not to freeze much this year, so Lake Effect snow continues.
