629-3 5in. Barrel.

I was in our lgs and they have a 629-3 classic with a 5 in. barrel.
They are asking 850 out the door, no box. I think I'm asking just so I won't feel bad for going and getting it. It sounds like a fair price but I would like your opinions. It helps a lot to get others opinions. Thanks.

Get it. I have one with a 5" and it is one of my all time favorite S&W's.

Hopefully it will still be there.

I don't know where in the US you are, but 850 OTD for a 629-3 (pre-lock) sounds like a great price to me for that as long as is in good shape and not abused.
Besides, 5 inch N-frames are in my opinion, the most balanced guns.

It doesn't seem to have been abused. Locks up tight, bore looks great. It's actually in better condition than I had thought the first time I saw it. A little bit of finish wear here and there but overall it's pretty nice.

Well, here it is. I couldn't resist. I'm really glad I got it. I'm not able to take it for a test run today due to poor weather. Hopefully tomorrow.

My 5" 629-3 makes a great companion to my 5" 610. Besides being drilled, the later -3s apparently had interchangeable front sights.

I found mine last fall for $824. Got lucky.

I stumbled into one in a pawn shop about 26 years ago. It was and is a great gun! It looks in great shape!! A very good price, too!

Definitely lucky. According to S&W mine was shipped Jan. 1993
