I have an older Stainless Loaded Target in 9mm. Odd name but great gun. I have always thought the use of the word "Loaded" in naming guns is inappropriate.

Does that one have the ramped barrel?

This 1 came to me recently. A Colt Cup Trophy. Haven't taken it to the range yet. Bob

Took it to the range and it functioned FLAWLESSLY!!! Bob

Good looking gun. Springfield Arms has made quite a reputation for itself. What advantage does the ramped barrel offer?
I wasn't aware of any feed or accuracy problems with the Colts 1911s in 9mm.

The ramped barrel has a fully supported chamber, so pressures are fully contained. The original 1911 barrel has a section of the cartridge unsupported, which can blow out with higher pressure rounds.

The 45 Auto version of the Garrison has a standard, non-ramped barrel just like most other 1911s.

The 9mm version has an elongated ramp because the 9mm cartridge is much shorter than the 45.

There are two ways to do it. Colt favors machining the ramp into the frame, whereas older STIs, Springfield, etc. seem to prefer using an elongated section of the barrel itself.

I've never heard of any issues with the chamber not having enough support in either arrangement.

Springfield Garrison 9MM

Mk70ss, I found a .38 super supported barrel for cheap, bought a .38 Super magazine and had to find a pistol to put it in. I purchased a blued Garrison in 9mm and now have a two caliber pistol by switching the barrel, magazine and still determining the correct recoil spring for the .38 Super.

I hate shiny 1911s...NOT !!!!

I saw the Colt GC at a gun show, and I decided that I needed one shiny gun,,
The end cap of the box says "Enhanced",
Besides polish, the trigger and hammer are jeweled,
and,, this 1911 has a trigger as nice as my S&W Model 41,,

Even the magazine is polished, (the second mag in the box is not polished)

When you look at the gun outside, you can tell what type clouds are overhead,, :D
