Who Doesn’t Like A Shiny New 1911??

Although I have several 1911s of all grades, there's always room for another. My most recent is a NIB DW VBOB.

Mine is stainless, but not shiny. 45 ACP only for me, please. 100% reliable, and hits to point of aim.

I did change out the arched mainspring housing that it came with for a flat one. Huge improvement.

I love the shiny nickel 1911s but my favorite will always be the Government Issue military Parkerized guns.

I have to agree and this might sound kind of stupid but there is something about that old rounded hammer feeling so good under my thumb while in operation. There are a hundred reasons for liking all of the modern things that have been done to old platform from muzzle to rear arch safety but that one thing is what does it for me when it comes to the 1911. I was trying to explain that to a friend of mine the other day and he didn't seem to understand what I was talking about, I finally showed him a picture of the early rounded hammer...he didn't know that it even existed, thought they all were slab sided. I told him "Get one under your thumb, you'll know what I mean." Browning knew what he was doing...

Points deducted for non-slotted screw heads, mud flaps (extended magazine release and safety levers), and **** stuck through the trigger guard when taking pictures. :)

Slotted screws but it did come with an extended safety lever and here are photos without the thing stuck thru the trigger guard. Better? LOL

I thought a truly 1911 has to have the "idol scratch", therefore I'am not going to provide/show you either of my two 1911's. :D

Hahahhahaa!!!! Well, I guess you are not an idol, then! ;)

In days of yore, there was no concern at all about the slide stop scratching the side of the pistol during re-assembly. This is regarding the use of a combat weapon in combat conditions. A little scratch on the side of the pistol was of no concern.

Nowadays, while doting upon ones pampered safe queen, an unsightly blemish is likely to give the owner a case of "the vapors"! I try to avoid it myself, but the "Idiot Scratch" is what is known as a "First World problem".
