Or maybe back to the walnut tree?...This may be the only Model of 1950 Target .44 Spl. in 4" that I will ever be privileged to own as they are not seen just every day...I posted pics in LEO918's thread about his and was inspired to start my own thread...Mine came to me with very nice walnut Magnas, well fitted but numbered to a different gun...A couple of months ago I snagged a pair of Bigmtnman's "Exhibition Grade" elk stag grips for it...I now understand the difference between Ken's premium grips and his already fine offerings from the remainder of the rack...The difference is staggering...

Then last week I was lucky enough to be one of the first to see his latest offering which he billed as "Technicolor" from the crown of a moose antler...My arthritic fingers were nevertheless nimble enough to be the first to say "I'll take 'em" and today they arrived...When Ken says photographs do not do justice to his creations, he is not exaggerating...They must be seen and felt to be properly appreciated...

I already know which ones have found a permanent home here, but I'm interested in the opinions of members here...You may vote for Bambi (yes the Disney cutie was indeed a buck), Bullwinkle who donated his proud crown or even the walnut branch where presumably Rocky the Squirrel is perched...

The choices will be pictured in separate posts due to forum limitations...First up is Bambi...

I already know what I like best, now lets hear from you...:D...Ben

Truly awesome grips!

The only thing I would order differently since I shoot all my guns, would be magna style but with full tops, similar to targets. For both function and good looks.

…crown of a moose antler...

…or walnut…

Ben,

Here is a Model 1950, ACP Target revolver with a pair of Ken’s caribou stocks.

I am told he will not be making any more. Too bad, I like them.

But, smooth elk is pretty nice also.

Jim,

I have never seen anything like that! Closest I can envision would be Magna’s and a grip adapter as shown on my revolvers.

They’re both beautiful, but Bambi does it for me.

Straw Hat's offering makes me wonder if the poll should be expanded to include Rudolph.
I have a pair of Ken's reindeer grips on an older RB J frame, but Kevin's are the first I've seen on a larger gun...I like them...Dang it! Where's Rudolph?...I have plenty of K and N frames to upgrade...:o...Ben

…But Ken's magic with Rudolph is something else. Here is some of his work on a J-frame (they have the density and feel of ivory…

Indeed!

Ken mentioned his source for the raw material has dried up. Almost makes me want to go back North and hunt again!

Honestly,,,, I'm just torn between Bambi & Bullwinkle. Both deserve top honors.
Only real solution,,,,, Find another 1950! Maybe a 6 1/2"? Or a M24. Would it really be the first time any of us sought a revolver BECAUSE we had the grips?
Walnut? Always a classic! Have 18 Black Walnuts on the property. Lots to pickup in the fall but I recall having some quarter-sawn in the barn,,,,,,. Maybe time to cut some blanks.

Bullwinkle works for me out of this group.....

Your Chief is one of the most beautiful I have seen! Have to love a pristine flat latch and those grips are magnificent!

I've got two of those now, one in bright blue with unrelieved targets and an earlier standard finish with the original numbered Magnas...I can't make myself give up the grips on either one even for a premium pair of Kenhorns...;)...Ben

Well, it's really a tough choice! But since I'm an alumni of Wossamattu U., in this case I have to go with Bullwinkle (although I really like the cracks and color of the elk antler, too). I don't yet own a pair of Ken's stocks, but it appears from all the examples I've seen here on the Forum that he does outstanding work. Even though they're new, both of these sets exhibit some age, which I like. I do have a nice set of elk antler stocks from another fine craftsman, Pat Grashorn. I tend to add some patina to the antler material- for me the bright white just looks too new on vintage revolvers. Great stocks! Enjoy!
