Bambi weren't no elk. :D
Always the stickler for detail, Lee...:D

None of the cartoon elk were available for this thread due to previous contractual commitments, and Walt Disney quit returning my calls years ago after I made some suggestions for "enhancing" Tinkerbelle's costume...So I picked Bambi, so sue me......Ben

All great choices for your Model of 1950. You may also want an early pair of non-relieved target grips as an option:
As mentioned earlier, I have a pair on one of my 6 1/2" Model of 1950 .44 Target versions...If you like you can send yours to me and I'll see how they fit...It may take some time to get them back to you, but I'll be sure to make a provision for you in my will...:o...Ben

This may sound..odd.

But when I look and re-look at your pictures I like how Bambi looks for display, but Bullwinkle makes me want to pick the gun up and shoot it.

If it were me I would have Bambi on this gun, and save Bullwinkle for a gun that I planned on running a whole bunch of cartridges through.

I lusted after both of those sets, and I'm glad to see they landed on such a fine revolver. I only have plain jane 28-2's for N squares. They are both stunning. Art.

I like both, but I'm favoring Bullwinkle as a permanent resident...I really like Bambi too, and I already have a very similar pair (also from Ken, what a coincidence) on one of my .38-44 HD's...The hunt is now on for another 4" Target Model of 1950 for the new Bambi...

Rodney Daingerfield nailed it when he said, "It ain't easy bein' me!...:D...Ben

Somebody mention the Model 28-2? Here are some smooth elk on a slightly customized Model 28-2.

Apologies to Ben for sidetracking his thread.

Two observations: in my book the Trucker's photo of the Moose grips show them better than the original photos when they were posted for sale on the forum.
Secondly, of this whole group Straw's caribou are the ones that most light my fire.

Not at all what I envisioned! Thank you for posting that image!

I am questing, not a commonly found stock?

(edit to add). Oooops, non-factory!!? So, who cut them?

I have half a roper magna set

I got to hold two sets of Kens elk grips at the same time. One set screwed in the left side, the other the right. For some reason I only like grips that screw in on the left side. Both were very nice.

Yes these full top Magnas are strictly a custom item. Although I’ve made a few pairs out of damaged S&W target stocks I picked up very cheap. The benefit is they have S&W medallions. Smooth stocks are easiest. But checkered stocks take a little more work with a checkering tool. Not trying to fool anyone but they look like they could be factory stocks.

Those made from J frame target stocks are especially cool looking and fit my hand well without the extra bulk.

Unfortunately my photos went away with fototime or whatever it was called.

I don't care for the look of bark. Doesn't necessarily need to be moose antler, but any antler grip that has a creamy, smooth appearance that looks more like ivory or bone. I think bark draws too much attention away from the gun.

No worries - just send me the gun and I will fit them for you.
