Barrel Swap on Model 10 2" to 4"

Have a Model 10-5 2" and I want to swap and put a 4" pencil barrel on it. I know I will need to purchase ejector rod and related equipment. Just wondering if I have to find a 10-5 pencil barrel or can I use other Model 10 pencil barrels? Gun is a square butt and would like to make it a 4". I've seen 4" bull barrels mated to old Model 10s and they look awkward. TIA for your help.

There are some variaions in the center pin (the part that runs down the milld of the ejector. I bought a 4" tapered barrel off eBay ( which variation wasn't availble) to convert the Son's 2" 10-5 to 4" and none of the old center pins I had in the parts drawer would work (I also had an ejector) so I had to buy one from Midway - fortunately that one worked. - it was stainless but that part doesn't show anyway.

The barrel I bought didn't have the ejector locking bolt or spring but I was able to salvage those from the old barrel.

If you are going to be fooling with S&W pins invest in a good cup pointed punch, 2 sizes of them - I bought mine from Brownells but they seem to always be out of stuff these days.

Just buy you a 10-5 with 4 inch barrel and keep your 10-5 with 2 inch barrel as is.

Riposte 1 and SSGRock. Just when you think you know your Smiths, it's not enough. Glad to find out that parts would be a "process". Thinking about purchasing off ebay a 4" pencil barrel complete from a 10-7 and a cylinder/ crane set up from a 10-6 to obtain a center pin and ejector. Parts are 125-150 bucks plus shipping, gunsmith to do the swap100-150. Think I'll purchase a 4" pencil barrel and be happy with one for each hand. Thanks Guys!

As a general rule u can sell a 2" for more than a 4" will cost u….,, unless of course the 2" has special meaning to you
