Went to a local show yesterday. The first row a guy had various powders on a display shelf and others on the table. Powder on the table was $25/lb. There were a half dozen different types, some I wasn't familiar with.
Foolishly I didn't buy the 2 cans of 700X, being we just got there and didn't know what else might be there.
You know what happened. When I went back it was gone.
The dealer said the guy directly behind me bought it.
I saw SPP for $70-$80 per K for name brand with one guy still holding out for $150/K
Thinking about going back today to see if he brought more 700X.
Looks like things are trending favorably.

I like 700X, but I like Bullseye, AA2, and Clays equally well and consider them as being essentially interchangeable. I am not strongly enough attached to any of them to exclude buying and using any of the others.

Hopefully powders will come down to ~$30/lb. I highly doubt primers will ever be $30/K again but I'm hoping for $40/K.

Keep telling you..the price is going to get down to about 55-65...maybe a bit cheaper on a sale. I went into Cabela's the other day and they were still at 90 dollars. I was talking to my friend/wife who had gone antiquing/uniquing down to Virginia. He went into Greentop in Staunton I think and bought shotshell primers for 59 per 1000(Nobel Sport and Rio were the same price). Day before he was at Shyda's in Pa and he bought an 8 pound Winchester 231 for 192 dollars. HP 38 was 220 for 8 lb. ?? He and his wife buy and sell old neat stuff. He got a Winchester wooden 1000 round case for 30-06 complete with top. Don't see them very often and it was a dovetail box

BPI has had 209 cheddites in stock at $59.86 for many moons now. Plus shipping and half price hazmat of course

Sir, just because you keep telling me something doesn't make it so.

W231 @$192/8 lbs is a phenomenal price! $24/lb is the price W231 was back in 2008-2010. (I think that was the years)

I am wondering why the W231 was less expensive than HP-38? That is reversed from the usual but still a good price. I just find it confusing that the prices would be different on the same exact power.

wishing for something just cause you want it won' make it so either. But you are right. The prices on some things are kind of ridiculous. I bought HP-38(under 28 dollars) powder at Scheel's and the price of 231 was over 4 dollars a pound higher? As far as wholesale prices I would have to check my invoices from way back. But I do have a 1000 primers in my stash at a price of 5 dollars in store price. Low priced powders too. Right now this super inflation caused by government overspending is going to continue to raise prices on some things into the future. As far as prices on Win and Hodgdon powders they were always for the most part a little different at least wholesale wise...and for some reason not consistently. I haven't looked as I have no newer HS-6...who makes it these days? Win d/c'd it years ago as W-540 but still esentially he same loading data

I never did say the prices would go to X, I said I hope they go to X.

Last time I saw, HS-6 was still being made by St. Marks Powders and yes, HS-6 and W540 are the same powder. W571 was the same as HS-7 too.
