A little while back, Forum Member walter o posted a question about a modification to a model 457D.

I posted an answer and we traded a couple of PMs.

He is a real Gentleman and wished to show his appreciation by sending me a set of his hand made grips for my Tisas 1911A1 Service Special.

He asked me if I preferred light or dark color grips.

I said I was not sure so he sent me a couple of pictures of some really great looking grips.

They looked so nice I couldn't decide, and realized I liked them both.

Not wishing to impose on such generosity, I offered to pay him.

He wouldn't hear of it and insisted on sending both pair!

This is just another example of the quality of folks that are on this Forum.

The first two are Spalted Maple.

The second two are Zebrawood.

I think they both look great and feel great.

The Zebrawood is highly figured and has a very classic look, but IMHO, the Spalted Maple just POP against the the grey ceracoat of the 1911A1 Service Special.

walter o is quite a craftsman as well as being a fine Gentleman.

What do you all think about these grips.

Thanks again, Walt!

John

Walt does outstanding work. I've seen his stuff up close since I live down the road from him. A couple of my guns now sport his grips. Also, it's amazing how the Tisas 1911's compare favorably to some of the best milsurp competition.

No doubt about it!

Walt just sent me some pictures of a presentation case he built.

Not only is he good with his hands, he is remarkably discerning in his selections of wood.

And I agree that the Tisas pistols are an exceptional value that can not possibly last at these prices.
