2023 Round-Up - How did you fare?

Holy cow, CH4...did you win the Lottery or what? That's about 15+ years of collecting for me! Congratulations, that's an impressive inventory.

Thanks
I've never bought a lottery ticket, perhaps I should. :D I don't have a wife or kids and Dude, my wiener dog, is low maintenance, so I buy guns, Harleys and camera equipment. :D

Only two significant additions, and they couldn't be more different.

An M&P Target that shipped in 1911:

An integral suppressor for my AR45 from now-defunct Curtis Manufacturing in order to make it a legal rifle vs. a braced pistol. Who knows, I might have the last one:

Kind of an average year, added seven to the menagerie:

S&W: 10-6, 64ND and 28-2
Colt: .38 Super Competition, WWII repro, and 2 Series 70 repros

Half of those guns were purchased from one dealer at the Oaks gun show, the rest from local auctions.

The goals for 2024 are a 5" 10-5, an 686 Mountain Gun and maybe a Beretta Ultima Patrol. There are six Oaks gun shows next year, who knows what I'll find.

Thanks

LOL! I've got a wife but she's fairly low maintenance (thank Heaven!), and the kids are grown and gone. I'm also a big fan of guns and Harleys...and electric guitars! Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

On my way out the door to a pawn shop. Gonna check out a cherry JM Marlin 1894 Cowboy 24" 44 mag and Bogen tripod. Let's see if they'll bundle. :D

Sold pretty much. The only thing "new" I got in all of 2023:

Which wasn't so much a new gun, as it was that it was a long time coming project that was completed.

I think 2023 may be the first year since 2005 that I haven't bought guns...

I keep coming back to this one - what's the story on that brass sight build? It's stunning and must be purpose built.

2-Smith&Wesson Shield Plus
1-Springfield Hellcat
1-Sig P365
1-Glock 43X
1-Mossberg 590A1 (with bayonet, of course)
1-Ruger SFAR
1-Remington Nylon 66
1-Winchester 62A
Working my way towards the gun a month club.

Bought some, sold some, gave one away but this is what I kept:

Model 4506-1 circa 1995
Model 63 ND circa 1982
Model 67-1 circa 1980
Glock 17 Gen 5 circa who knows

Paid for but waiting to pick up: (stupid NJ gun laws)
Model 60 ND circa 1985 (next week)
Model 15-3 circa 1971 (beginning of February)

As you can see by all these pics, I picked up zero, zip, nada. Oh well.

Sold some, bought a few, traded for a couple. Lets see now... bought a new Tisas GI model 1911 at Rural King. Sold off the last of my old S&W 32 and 38 top breaks and picked up a nice used Uberti copy of the S&W #3 in 44 special with the proceeds.
Traded a model 55 Winchester 32 Special for a model 92 in 25-20 WCF.Then swapped a 15-3 plus cash for a nice 1950 era model 94.
Bought a S&W10-9 back from the neighbor. I had sold it to him several years prior.
Picked up an old #3 Ballard 22 rimfire rifle and a decent older Ruger three screw Single six with the magnum cylinder at auction. The Ballard needs some work so that will be a project for 2024.
Oh yes... and bought a friends Kangaroo rifle, a nice BSA Martini cadet rifle that was nicely restocked and re-chambered for the old 35/30-30 wildcat. At 5 pounds, its a real sweetheart to carry in the woods. Short and handy too.
The next question is whats in store for 2024? I'm still looking for a 25-35 Winchester model 94 locally. And a 30-40 Krag bolt action could be in the works too. Revolver wise, a nice S&W 32-20 M&P with a good clean bore is on my list. I've owned several shooter grade examples with less than perfect bores and finishes. And I've fancied having a Stevens single shot spur trigger 22 pistol (model 41?).
All that should keep me busy enough. And deplete my meager bank account as well. Happy New Years all!

John

Didn't buy, didn't sell in 2023…

While I do admit to being sorely tempted at times, I'm content and happy with my modest accumulation.

I live vicariously through all of you on this forum.

I let one slip thru my fingers yesterday. Walked into a shop and a customer offered me a very nice nickel 32-20, probably 1903s, for $700...i did not have cash on me, and had the whole gang waiting in the car, so I drove back to the cabin, thinking I'd go back...fell asleep in the chair and by the time Inwoke up, it was too late.. .

Two Ends of the Spectrum

Personal finances dictated that I had $1500 discretionary funds, to spend on firearms, in 2023. A 1930 HFT found it's way to me, in March.
Then, in December, after years of denying their appeal, I succumbed to the allure of the black rifle. It's a "Barbie for boys", with its endless possiblities, for accessorizing.
I managed to bring both weapons (AR-15, without sights or sling) home, for a total of $1200, leaving a bit of cash leftover for add-ons and ammo.
Both guns are utterly amazing to shoot and totally captivating.
