Alec Baldwin Indicted in 'Rust' Shooting!

In their report last night of the re-filed charges the CBS reported that the gun, after being in custody, was "falling apart" and had "replacement parts" in it. ????? This would appear to be a barn door size get out of jail free card. At least 2-3 agencies had the gun for examination including the FBI. If true, how could the gun end up in this altered condition?

I have several guns with replacement parts that were not falling apart. IMO, that is a huge stretch to make.

FBI BROKE it - Parts replaced and then tested again by others

During the testing of the gun by the FBI, authorities said portions of the gun's trigger sear and cylinder stop fractured while the hammer was struck. That allowed the hammer to fall and the firing pin to detonate the primer.

"This was the only successful discharge during this testing and it was attributed to the fracture of internal components, not the failure of the firearm or safety mechanisms," the report stated.
The FBI has released a forensic report in relation to the prop gun Alec Baldwin fired in the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of filming "Rust" in New Mexico.

Testing with replacement parts does not yield valid results for the initial condition..

Same credibility as "George Washington's ax from the cheery tree incident."

Has replacement head and twice replaced handle..

I have a Colt GM that once fired when I dropped the slide with a loaded magazine. I detail stripped the gun and found nothing wrong. I attempted to recreate the problem about 100 times but the hammer never fell. However, I still have a bullet in my hardwood floor.

Never say never. Unlikely is not the same as "can't happen."

"It doesn't help that Alec Baldwin a despicable person."

He certainly appears to be and exhibits few redeeming qualities. I will never believe he went to work that day intending to harm anyone. Carelessness and lack of attention to detail resulted in injuries and a death. Throwing Alec Baldwin in prison will not bring the deceased back. Replace Baldwin with any other actor under the same circumstances and the result would of been the same.

I believe that also.

Of course his lack of personality and super ego certainly can account for a lot of what went wrong that day. Plenty of fault to go around but he was the one that pulled the trigger. (unless you believe in ghosts!)
