My first 4006 in 32 years- w/night sights ex Nevada P&P issue

Back in 1992, when I was a younger thinner man, while serving as a brash young Sheriff's Deputy in SoCal, I went out and bought one of the hottest new, and newly approved handguns around- a shiny new 4006... I carried it as my duty weapon until 2000 when I went over to the G17. I stupidly sold it around 2010 when I moved back to Colorado.

Fast forward to 2024 and I found a replacement. This one is identical except it has factory night sights, sadly long dead, but I had no idea they were offered with them. Mags are the Govt/ LE only marked with blue followers (mine were blue- but not marked as such since it was pre-ban) Frame is marked Nevada P&P (parole and probation) so its neat to me as an ex-cop to have an ex-cop example. Has some minor carry wear, but the bore and internals look mint. Not that I would expect a P&P officer to have had to use it much. Well hopefully not..

My 4006 is a fine shooting pistol and a great range gun. It's a heavy weight at 38 ounces. I had to buy a 27 ounce 4053 to carry. I enjoy them both!

I hope you get a lot of enjoyment out of your 4006.

The night sights can be re-lamped by Trijicon.

You could try gently heating up the top label, on the right side of the factory box label, with a hair dryer on low & see if you can lift it up enough to read the Spec Ord date on the factory label.

Should be a (4) digit Julian format, YDDD.

Does it have a spurless hammer? Spurred were standard.

Yes sir. Its honestly a nostaglia thing with me. The big Motorola brick radios, Crown Vic crusiers and side handle batons. All things of a bygone era. I left LE in 2006 to persue a career in the private sector. I'm pushing 58 now. and even with the way things are now, I still miss it at times. I had almost 20 years with a badge. Wouldn't have missed a second of it, even as challenging as it was at times.

The hammer is bobbed, (spurless). Thanks for the tip. IIRC mine back in 1992 was in a box. Dont remember the labels
