Went to go check out what I thought was a Gary Reeder modified Smith but... It ended up being one of his Medusa custom builds. He called it a Skorpion. So having never seen a Medusa but only heard mention of them it had to come home with me. Didn't have much time to think about it so defaulted "Never regretted buying a new toy but haunted by some passed up opportunities!".

Medusa was a 90's pistol designed to shoot almost anything that fits in the cylinders(.380, 9mm, 38 S&W, 38 Colt, 357 Mag). I read it could fire 32's also. No it's probably not very accurate with oddballs but will fire which is cool in my book! I was told to be careful when extracting sticky cases since the small extractor bars(made of unobtanium) can break. And that's the heart of this curious piece.

I haven't shot it yet but will probably this week. So here's a few pics. Not bad looking toy.

Keep Fighting the Good Fight!

Fred

The gun was designed by Roger Hunziker, and manufactured in Huntsville by Phillips & Rodgers...Roger would occasionally come by my store in Conroe wanting me to order several, but what I found was very little demand for it...It was a neat idea, but just never caught on...I suppose in hindsight I should have bought a few dozen, then waited until now to sell them...:(...Ben

Thank you for the RIA auction link. I had not seen any prices but any Gary Reeder customs up there. That was #008 and I have #006 but sure wished it was 007!

When I first looked at it I thought it was a custom 547 but the extractor seemed odd and the outer spring on the rod. I have a 3" RB 547 and it's a favorite shooter.

I have a friend who owns one, but it has no engraving or fancy gold inlays. It can fire almost any cartridge with .357, .38, or 9mm in its name. I doubt that any .32 cartridge would work in it. How well I can't say, as I have never fired it. He may have sold it by now. Not for me, but I suppose it would be very desirable in some circles as they are not something often seen.

I always saw this gun as an apocalypse gun. Pair it with a 12 GA and your odds of finding ammo on the post-civilization battlefield go up immensely. The fact that this one does it with flash and panache even adds to it. Make that shotgun a Purdey double, add in a flask of bourbon and a Deeerstalker hat, and you're walking the wastelands in style!
Nice piece, OP! You gotta pick up the cool ones when they show up!

That is why I have two semiautos (a Colt 1911 and an EAA Witness) set up for multiple calibers.

I watched a video on Forgotten Weapons about the Medusa revolver many years ago, very cool!

That one is a beauty. I got to shoot a plain Jane version years ago. A few misfires with .380 IIRC, but otherwise it worked as advertised.

I always wanted one of the Medusa cylinders for my 686 but it just never happened.

I'm glad to know about this gun, but it just looks crude to me. That blocky, square barrel and the finish looks like paint or something thick.

No criticism, obviously it as a fan base.

Another one I won't be bidding you guys up on ,,, :)

Hmm, where the "extractor" groove is in the cylinder, makes me wonder if that could be a point of failure. I wonder if it leaves marks on a fired case?? That extractor/ejector does look pretty beefy, and if tight enough, maybe it isn't an issue, just something that makes me think.

Definitely a neat concept. I too would want it for my 686 and not so much that gun.
