It looks like they dipped the whole gun in a bumper chrome vat and let it sit too long...Those are nowhere near the right grips for a 1940 gun, but I would hope they fit tighter than the picture anyway...:o...Ben

The finish has the yellow tint of nickel, so I do not think it is chrome. Also, the hammer and trigger do not look plated, but maybe a steel grey?? No comment on value.
 
Shipped to Dallas City Hall as a pair. A third one had shipped about 2 weeks earlier... so a total of 3 in that group. I've got some more research to do as it was connected to the city creditunion at city hall, so possibly for payroll protection?? Wording in the two letters (I found a copy of the other one) is slightly different. Gun shipped blue but was later non factory nickeled. I'll post photos when I get some rest. The drive home from the symposium started very early. Thanks to SWHF for the 4 hour letter turn a round!
