Went to the range today. Shot 100 rounds through my new CSX. It ran flawlessly. No issues at all. Trigger felt fine. Not as good as my 1911, but good enough for a small defensive carry pistol. Accuracy could have been better, but I think that was on me.

I like my CSX immensely. It shot slightly off point of aim which was of little consequence as I replaced the factory sights with XS tritium night sights and set them properly.

The CSX is not a match gun nor is it intended to be. It’s more than sufficiently accurate for the purpose.

The little CSX's seem to be extremely reliable. I have 2 of them with probably 1200rds of FMJ/JHP, 115gr, 124gr & 147grs through them. I have had 1 failure to completely feed and that was with the first magazine fired. I have found that to improve my accuracy, I really have to bear down and concentrate on my grip. I also had to push my trigger finger a little deeper into the trigger contact to avoid pushing the trigger/gun to the left. (Compared to my 1911's and I have fairly long fingers.)
The little CSX's are a dream to carry all day, everyday. It is a shame they got some undeserved bad press initially and that turned some people away from even trying them. Also there were some VERY unrealistic expectations as to accuracy. My belief is that the CSX's were designed for up close and personal self defense, not 25 yard bullseye shooting, similar to the little 5 shot J frame revolvers.

Myself, I believe the reason they aren't more popular is because they are single action. I am not into "more Glock like" or striker fired or plastic for that matter. I was hoping the CSX would be something a little different than just another mini 1911. They are well priced though with one seller offering them at $429 NIB. I have to admit though at that price it's tempting.

I would really liked to have found a good use for it but I'm not real comfortable with cocked and locked. I also don't carry a striker fired pistol so don't waste your time telling me that it's the same as cocked and locked. My guess it that a lot of others must feel the same way because otherwise, I never really saw anything else wrong with it. It looks like a really nice pistol and checks a lot of boxes. The only one it doesn't check is "what would I use it for".

I'm curious, then - what DO you carry?

Take my CSX to the range all the time...

Learned about the CSX in NRA's American Rifleman, and I got curious. Watched some youtube vids, showing the good and bad.

I got it used but like new in perfect condition and with everything it's supposed to come with, and for what I deem a reasonable price...$450 from a pawn shop (talked them down $50.00). It has been my EDC replacing my Sig 365XL. It is also my 4th Chief Special as I have a CS9 CS40(blk) and CS45.

I appreciate that it's metal, sold feeling, and just about as accurate as the XL but even smaller, and it's overall fun to fire. Curious to see if it has been a good seller for S&W...anyone have any Ideas of how many sold and if fixes have been made to the mag issue with the spacer etc. and I have an audible click when I shake mine with full mag capacity ? Not a big issue for me but i have seen alot of negativity about it. I included a couple of pics for size comparison in case no one has seen one. 3rdgenfriend.

I like My CSX. At the range I make small pieces of clay targets and then bounce or break the pieces at the 50 yards berm. It's definitely accurate enough for EDC. Have yet to have any kind of failure and being that for years My EDC was a 1911, I have no problem with cocked and locked.

I like the CSX, and if S&W were to offer them in more chamberings, then I could even see getting one, possibly as a new carry gun.

I'm surprised that they still haven't offered them in .380 ACP and .45 ACP, which seem like obvious choices to me, given the obvious parallels between the CSX, the P238, and of course, the 1911. I also would have loved to have seen the .40 S&W get some love, but I don't blame Smith & Wesson for not chambering it in a cartridge that has flooded the market, and for anyone besides a die-hard fan like myself, new gun wouldn't be compelling in a market flooded with used, like new police trade-ins.

Thanks for postings pictures 3rdgenfriend. I think its a good looking pistol, I'm sure I'll be an owner soon enough lol
