My second favorite .357 Magnum

I was wondering what your "3rd favorite .357M" was and how many you had in all. I've made it to 5 and probably won't go any further, but I have the ones I wanted most. I'm not interested in them after 1982, but wouldn't turn down a nice M13 or M65 if they came along at a reasonable price.

My 2nd favorite is my M520. Never been fired since the factory, I'm 3rd owner (and last until I'm in the ground). It was my Grail gun, I got really lucky and even got a Letter with it, written by Roy Jinks the year the gun was new in 1980.

Awesome gun and story.

When my brother acquired his M520 it had only bee fired twice,
a test shot and a second one into the owners head :(
My brother fired a box of shell thru it and never fired it again.
So when I got it it had been fired 52 time, actually more like 50.

At one time I had 19-20 .357 Magnums and now I'm down to I think just 6.

I have letters for all of my S&Ws.

I can not have a second favorite 357 Magnum. I am not fond of the cartridge!

Its my favorite cartridge and I blame that on my brother.
Many many moons ago before I ever owned a gun my friends wanted
to go rabbit hunting so I asked my brother if he had a gun I could borrow
and this is what he lent me.
It was brand new t the time and still had the Magna grips on it.
He would sell me boxes of his reloads for $3, I'd always buy two. :D

Later he added the Pachmayr grips because he said they were better suited
for what I was using the gun for.
After a few hunting trips another friend bought a .357 to hunt with.

It didn't take long to get hooked on .357s. I love them and they are my favorite.
I can't even imagine how many rounds have found their way down the barrel of my M28-2.
I have only ever fire three .38 round thru it and they were given to my
by a friedn while rabbit hunting because he didn't want to spend
the $14/box for .357 Magnums.
I loaded the cylinder with every other one just for comparison.
To me the .38d were like like shooting a cap gun next to the .357 Magnums.
My brother had no idea what a light load was.

My first .357 Magnum was a .357 Colt Trooper. It was one of the first .357's that carried the Trooper name. Colt had made a revolver called the .357 and also made a revolver called the Trooper in .38 Special. At some time they combined the two. Great revolver as it got me started in revolvers. Presently I own a S&W Model 27-2 3.5 inch. it shoots well for me and see no real reason for another. The shot hole in the Eight Ring is just to keep me humble as a friend tells me.

That's some awesome shooting, I never did fire my 3.5" pre-27.

AGREED! So I'm going to start another, similar thread....with a surprise twist....

You aren’t going to dance, are you?!
I think the 357 magnum is maybe the handiest little revolver ever made! There are others
I like more, but if I could only have one caliber that would probably be it. I like this one quite a bit. It’s a 27-9; I bought it around September of 2022. I have a Barranti belt and holster ordered for it. I liked the gun a lot so I shopped around and found one I liked. It should be here within the next couple months. Not sure what stocks I’ll settle on yet. Very nice guns up above in this thread!
