Mower Died

It's getting fuel and spark, yes?

How about compression?

What does the oil look like?

Oil has a honey color, I'm good about changing the oil and filter.

No clue about compression, guess I'll have a call a friend till I find one with a gauge.

This is most tempting, as long as it would back up the ramp into my shed.

Looks like overkill for 10,000 sq. ft.

You'll probably spill your beer before having a chance to finish.

Does it have a fuel shutoff solenoid (electric) sticking out the bottom of the float bowl? These do go bad and is easily googled. I think it was an option on your model but I would look.
Pull the spark plug, add a little gas, if it fires off then its the solenoid.

It does have a solenoid on the carb.

One person told me this...

"Pull the solenoid off and what I do, is cut off the pin that moves(or doesn't move).
That'll eliminate that-What it's supposed to do is eliminate back firing when shutting down."

Well keep this in mind, the solenoid keeps the float bowl needle closed when off. If you do that and gas gets by the needle/seat (gravity from tank) then you could end up with gas in your shed? and a potential fire hazard! Like I said put some gas in the cylinder and if it fires then you know for sure..even if you have to take all the sheet metal off to get to it. I would replace that part and stay fire safe imho.

I have a inline gas shut off right before the filter. I did bypass the solenoid, and it didn't help.

Are you talking about pulling the spark plug and pouring gas directly into the cylinder?

I keep a can of starting fluid in the cabinet . I had to coax my pressure washer to crank this morning . One good spritz in the intake and it cranked on the fourth pull . It had been sitting up for about 4-5 months . I'll add some Seafoam to the fuel tank for good measure and I expect it to be good to go later this week when I'll use it ..

Just got back from Flagler Power Equipment. I really like this one. It has a smaller deck which I wanted, and their shop is about 5 miles from my house.

I took a cell pick of my shed / ramp set up and he said it wouldn't be a problem. He told me they'd deliver it, then show he how to operate it, and show me how to drive it up and down the ramp till I was comfortable with it.

I'm most tempted. Always wanted a zero turn. Their made in Brillion, Wisconsin.

I didn't know they made a ZTR with a 34 inch deck . You'll get the hang of it quickly and wonder why you didn't buy one sooner .

I always used my JD for the back yard and used my Honda self propelled on the front. Took me 20 minutes to cut my front yard.

Once I get the hang of a zero turn I bet I can do my whole yard in 20 to 30 minutes. No more getting up before daylight to start cutting before it gets too hot.

I remember the old days when I would use some starter fluid spray bought at Autozone to fire up a small engine. Odd how no one has mentioned this.

Phffffttttt...............

Just reach in there & pull off the plug wire, hang onto it while you crank the motor. You'll learn most ricky tick if there's spark or not. :D
LOL! I did that to one of my buddies back in high school when my mower wouldn't start.
"Hey Ed, hold onto this wire while I try to crank it over"...
Man was he TICKED off when the magneto almost knocked him on his rear end!
I about fell over laughing - and at the same time I eliminated the possibility of it being an ignition problem... ;)
