From where the sun now stands, I will work no more, forever.

Last work day was the 17th.

"Tell General Howard I know his heart. What he told me before, I have in my heart. I am tired of fighting. Our chiefs are killed. Looking Glass is dead. Toohoolhoolzote1 is dead. The old men are all dead. It is the young men who say yes and no. He who led on the young men is dead. It is cold and we have no blankets. The little children are freezing to death. My people, some of them, have run away to the hills and have no blankets, no food; no one knows where they are—perhaps freezing to death. I want to have time to look for my children and see how many I can find. Maybe I shall find them among the dead. Hear me, my chiefs. I am tired; my heart is sick and sad. From where the sun now stands I will fight no more forever." - Chief Joseph, October 5, 1877

Congratulations.

There is a member here who I also follow on Facebook and in his updates or whatever you call it on Facebook his always says "I have tomorrow off".

That's kind of my attitude every day is Saturday.

This is admittedly not a high bar but my favorite part of retirement is when we're having a blizzard and the News readers all say if you don't have to go to work tomorrow don't go.

Congratulations!

Shortly after I retired, fella asked me what I did now that I was retired?
I told him, "Nothing. And I don't start that until 2:00 in the afternoon!"

Advice: Try not to commit to anything for the first six months of retirement.

God bless,
Birdgun

I am eligible now, and kind of want to go, but I have nothing else to do while I wait for transplant, so ... and our pay scale was fixed a little over a year ago. I now make more than I ever expected to by a good bit, and since my pension is based on the highest 60 consecutive months, staying until the end of 2026 has a lot of value (it will improve my pension by about $2K/month compared to leaving now).

We are already making plans/taking steps for post retirement.

Congrats, but you'll get bored. I certainly did, although there is plenty of unpaid stuff I can do around here. I retired 5-1/2 years ago after 37 years as a RN. Two months later I was doing landscaping, working with a guy I've known for almost 30 years who is in the business. It's not really like work, no pressure to get it done NOW, and it feels good to be outside, even on colder days. The pay isn't great but I'm not doing it for the money.

Find something you enjoy to occupy yourself.
