Smith & Wesson Victory model. This particular revolver shipped in 1943 to the Commonwealth of Australia as part of the lend/lease program. I have no history of this specific revolver exploits while serving abroad.
Included in the display is a historical foundation letter, and an Australian Army "rising sun" hat badge

I am still sorta looking for one stamped "RFI" on the barrel. Typically will be slathered in black paint that is chipping/wearing over the years.

Neat old pieces of history.
Not to go off topic, but if anyone has an extra lanyard ring they could spare for my 5" Victory as it was missing when I received it.
Thanks

Nice find (as are all the others that have been posted). Those are clearly slices of important history that reflect on "The Greatest Generation" that kept us all from speaking German, Italian, or Japanese. Someday I may find one I can afford to go with my brother's 15-3 that he purchased when he left the USAF. He had been issued one as an Elite Guard at SAC HQ and fell in love with it.

Is the holster original or a reproduction? It looks brand new. The primers in the ammo may not be "barrel friendly"...

Navy, Marine, and some Coast Guard pilots wore those when on combat missions (mostly in the Pacific).

The gun is not U.S. Property marked. As I understand it, it was likely made sometime in 42 or 43 and was likely sold to a defense contractor for their security guards or possibly to a police department.

The holster's a reproduction. I have a reproduction WW2 1911/1917 lanyard on the way to go along with it.

The ammo has a 1965 headstamp, so it's after the M41 cartridge was revised to allow more pressure after the Aircrewman revolvers were pulled from service. I have no intention of shooting the ammo. I found it at a gun show a couple months ago and bought it because I figured it'd make an interesting photo prop.

The MC1 parachutist switchblade was given to me earlier this year by a fellow Army vet who was cleaning out stuff he no longer had room to keep, along with a pair of Camillus-made USGI pocketknives.

The picture isn't meant to be 100% historically correct. I kind of had the idea it might be similar to a set up you may see carried by someone such as an advisor or tunnel rat in Vietnam.

Here is a 2" Victory, shipped to Ft Mason, San Francisco, CA, Dec 1, 1942, in a 200 gun shipment of these guns. Knowledgeable commentators have said that there may have been some OSS-type training going on at Ft Mason, similar to what Rex Applegate was doing at Camp David.

Pate says the contract ( W-478-ORD-2462) for those 2" guns was for 300, but who's counting. I'm guessing Roy was correct about the quantity. OSS did receive a bunch of Victory Models.

I have forever just loved these S&W Victory Models, but they have so very sadly risen out of my price range !! I would only keep it for Collector relevance, & add it along with the 4" Colt's from the that particular era & 'type'. I've owned a few over the years but at that time I had begin to focus on Non-Collector type weapons for what we'll call 'self preservation' purposes, Job related of course.

Best, Dom P.
