Good Morning,
I receive this gun from an estate I purchased last month. The gentleman did most of his collecting from the 70's and 80's. This was one of the oldest ones he had. I am trying to determine which which hand ejector triple lock model I have. Any information including the estimated value would be greatly appreciated.

There was no model number on the Yoke only the manufacturing numbers. The Serial is 11101. It has all of the screws pointed out on the forum info page.

I have plenty more pictures if needed. Thank you for the help!!

Thank you for the quick response. Do you mind walking me through how you can tell it is first model?

Looks like a very nice Triple Lock probably made in 1912. Given the condition of the stocks and from what we can see of the finish I'd guess it is in original condition although you might check under the stocks for service department stamps. I have a target model from 1909 that looks as nice but was factory refinished in 1952. Beautiful gun, enjoy. And welcome to the Forum.

Thank you to all of you for all of the information. I am even more excited to own it now.

Welcome to the Forum, and congratulations on a fine acquisition! That .44 HE 1st Model (aka New Century and Triplelock) is a real beauty. Most of us would be thrilled to own it. It appears from the s/n to date to around 1913, and it looks to me like a 6-1/2" bbl. (you measure the barrel of S&W revolvers from the front of the cylinder to the muzzle). It has the fixed service sights (there were also versions manufactured with target sights), and a very nice set of stocks. You have an outstanding example of a Triplelock. Enjoy!

Welcome to the forum it has the shrouded ejection rod with the third lock making it a first model also known as the triple lock. It is a beautiful specimen of one congratulations!

From the right side photo, you can see the unblued third locking point on the forward lower frame, at the base of the extractor rod shroud. It is the only .44 HE model that has this feature.

Welcome to the forum from Italy.
Great acquisition
one of the most beautiful Triple Locks I have seen, I would like to see some nice photos also of the other side too.
I envy you for this beauty.
I sincerely hope one day to be lucky enough to find one as beautiful as this. Also if here it's hard to find.
The 1st. Model "Triple Lock" 44 Hand Ejector for me remains, perhaps, the most beautiful revolver ever produced.
Thanks for sharing.

Welcome to the forum and way to make a splash!!

OK, now I'm confused. I don't collect this model and have no real knowledge of them. Could someone explain these two posts???

First Model .44 HE is the Triple Lock

Second Model .44 HE did away with the third lock and the ejector rod shroud.

Third Model .44 HE / Model of 1926 / Wolf & Klar brought back the ejector rod shroud

Only the 1st is called TRIPLE LOCK

I just posted the 3 variations to show the differences. Namely the 2nd and 3rd do not have the 3rd middle lock. The ejector housing disappeared in 2nd model and thanks to distributor Wolf & Klar brought back in 3rd. (From what I’ve read) although I do have a 3rd model Target that did not ship to W&K that has the ejector housing. Not an expert so maybe someone can add some texture.

finding a 2nd model in 4” or a Target sight version has eluded me.

OK, thanks Tim. I assumed that the photos were triple locks which contradicted Lee's post. So even though there were 2nd and 3rd models, they were not triple locks. Got it...

For several years after its introduction in 1926, W & K was reportedly the sole distributor for the .44 HE third model. After this period, several other dealers also sold them.

Again thank you to everyone for all the congratulations. I am really thrilled and will definitely being hanging on to it. I appreciate everyone's willingness to help educate me. At the advice of one of your members I will be getting the certified letter from Smith. I will post an update when I receive it.

I look forward to being apart of this forum.
