To Model 13 or not Model 13, that is the question..

So, local place has a 3” 13-3 in user condition. (Some scratches and end-of-barrel bluing wear, Pachmayr grips, no box, etc.). Priced at $625.

Neat fixed sight 357, might be a nice “no frills” carry piece for the woods.

Thoughts on that price?

I paid $800 for a 3 inch 66 a couple years ago. I'd pay the 625 for a 13 in decent shape.

Others will obviously disagree as already said but the 13 .357 is a K frame glorified .38 spl and in the condition you specified it is over priced by a least $100.

Everyone should have a 3" Model 13, as well as a 4" 13 and 3" and 4" 65's (I need a 4" 65 still).

3” K frames are ridiculously hard to find at anything less than 800+ bucks. I myself consider a 3” 13 something of a grail gun. Everyone into classic revolvers seems to love 3” K’s but they didn’t seem to make a ton of them in the heyday of the wheel gun, and my perception is you see a lot more of those ugly stainless things that real blue ones.

I see a 3” 13 for sale about once every few years, and it is not unusual for excellent condition specimens to top a thousand bucks

If it is a beater, add 500$ in tune up-repair to the price to get it to where you are happy. That happened to me on a 19 search. Luckily I did not bite on the rebuild, then found a mint specimen later for same outlay price. Emotions should not guide anyone in the firearms family.
