To Model 13 or not Model 13, that is the question..

Never hurts to try negotiations, but if it is mechanically sound, not shot to death, then for a 3 inch Model 13, that's a good price.

Where are you finding them at that price in NY? I wouldn't mind picking one up.

Definitely not finding them or any revolvers in NY sadly. They are online from time to time for $700 or less in described condition. It’s a great gun. It’s a good price. But I don’t think it’s an automatic buy it price

****! Now the place has a 4” blued Model 19-4 for $600. “There can be only one!” I’ve got a 6” 19-4, but this one looks to have Target hammer and trigger. Grips are not factory.

Kinda leaning towards making an offer on the 19, mistake?

I would say mistake. I believe the 3" K frame is much harder to find that a 4" 19 with three T's. If you mean the model 13 is gone, it is a decent price on the 4" 19 but not a giveaway.

Hey, it's only money. What kind of answer are you looking for by asking a bunch of enablers and collectors? Is your rent paid? Are your kids fed?
Now, I don't know where your are, but in the Arklatex that sounds about par. 3" K frames are high demand items, and for good reason. If you want to carry one, then the box doesn't matter, and the pachs make sense. Probably the best 6 shot combat revolver you'll ever own.

apples to oranges. if you like the 19 more, get the 19. If you want a superbly balanced concealed carry peace, get the 13. You will feel the difference

You’ll likely come across many more 4” 19s at a reasonable price in your lifetime. Can’t say the same for a nice condition 3” 13, especially since Hickok45 endorsed them.

I’m not knocking a 4” 19 AT ALL, fantastic revolver. But I know which one I would buy in an instant. In case nobody else mentioned it… I’d risk pissing off my wife and make an offer on both! “But honey, it’s an investment!” ;)

I agree about the price and availability, and that's why I was so shocked a couple of weeks ago.

I stopped in a shop that used to be one of my gotos. The place had been sold and the new ownership is a young couple. I hadn't been there in a couple of years.

The clientele that day were a bunch of old guys. (I felt right at home...LOL)

I think there might have been a couple of black plastic autos in the case, but by far it was FULL of old wheelguns. I figured that a bunch of old guys must have been selling.

Prices were in the 700-900 range.

You got my hopes up. The 3 inchers are surprisingly nice. But I see where you are coming from.

If you are looking for used revolvers in NY, check out A&J in Bardonia NY. They actually have a case of old wheel guns. Last I was there, they had some Model 10s and a few model 15s. I was able to score a 3" Ruger Service 6 and a 3inch 66-3 from them, but I paid the $800 I mentioned above. The 66 was in great shape. the Ruger was in a more EDC shape.

I remember the old days when you could buy the old NYPD 10s and 64s by the bushel.

Forget so called rarity. Neither one is in "collectable" condition. If only one buy the one you think suits your needs the best. The 19 sounds like the better buy.

I agree, neither will win a beauty contest, both appear to be decent shooters. I’m not looking at either to be a collector piece anytime. As I consider this more, I have a 19 and a 27, so the 13 is really the one to get. (He’s got a nice 28 too.). I’ll be making an offer on the 13 in a bit, once we settle on some shipping details.

Great price!!!
Great gun!!!

I sure treasure my two -3s. Would love to find a -2 or earlier.

I found a gently used 4” 25-5 for $850 - perfect for packing
I’ll leave my pristine example in semi retirement.

Well now you've changed the whole picture. Forget the K frame glorified .38 spls and buy a real .357 Magnum, the model 28.
