I have a copy, so am not bidding on this one. It is a wonderful read.

First Edition?

My copy — it may be the same as the one on auction here, or it may not be the same — is a 1979 edition, see below.

It is interesting, to me anyway, that the write-up on the rear interior flap of the dust jacket, see below, refers to an earlier, shorter edition which apparently was abridged and edited to eliminate Keith's ungrammatical, conversational style. Since his idiosyncratic, ungrammatical, conversational style is surely one of the book's main charms, we are fortunate that his publisher thought to revise the earlier edition so that Keith would come across as he did in person, rather than as filtered through an editor.

Below, some photos of my copy. I post these pix to give people who have not read it a bit of information about what sort of book it is:

It is a wonderful read!

Just checked mine.
It is a First Edition, autographed to me by Elmer His Ownself.
If you are an Elmer Fan, Highly Recommend!

Wow, having a first edition is pretty cool, having it autographed is really nice, but having a first edition personally autographed by Elmer to YOU is AWESOME! How long have you had it, and how did you get it autographed, in person or by mail?
