Sometimes crazy, unexpected things happen. There I was, walking with my wonderful woman, headed to a restaurant in Grapevine, Texas.

We turn a corner and there's this little store and the sign says "Black-Tie Guns". She says we have no time to go in there. I'm already inside.............

What a delightful place - like a trophy room, kinda sorta - but the trophies are all guns. All kinds of guns, pistols, revolvers, black rifles, hunting rifles, super expensive shotguns, etc. The list is endless but my two favorites were a 5" Model 19 that looked almost NIB despite it actually being decades old ($600 as I recall) and an even older Colt Police Positive with pristine stocks - gorgeous gun. $forgotten

Anyway, I had to mention it; y'all check it out if you're ever in Grapevine, Texas.

OMG! A 5 inch Pristine 19 for $600?
I couldn’t get the money out fast enough!

Understood. But I was just looking, not shopping. After my 2018 fire caused me to liquidate my S&W snubbie collection (all in good shape but all water and foam stained, and I couldn't look at them anymore) I went out of gun buying mode as a routine thing. That doesn't mean I haven't acquired one or firearms since then but I don't jump at the chance anymore.

If I’m being honest, I have to admit that I never heard of a 5” model 19. I learn something almost everyday here. Or is just April 1st.

Item the first: I've had three wives. This wonderful woman is my later in life soulmate so I try to not irk her and that's not easy considering how irascible I am.

Item the second: Sorry for the loss of any loved one; life takes away far too much.

Item the third: Heck, at first I thought "Black-Tie Guns was a bar!!!

Item the fourth: I am pretty sure it was a $600 price tag hanging off that Model 19 but if you go there you'll soon see.

And that's the name of that tune..................... ;)

That's really close to one of my favorite pizza joints in all of DFW - Sauce'd, the Texas style pizza is the best. Will definitely try to get in there next time I'm in that part of town.

Where I hunted for many many years in Upstate NY, there was a very high end gun shop specializing in used vintage Parkers, Belgium Brownings, vintage German & British shotguns, as well as very highly sought after vintage and antique rifles - many prized Winchesters that were highly engraved with Ivory stocks and hand sewn leather cases! He had absolutely no interest in handguns although he would have to buy many of them when buying an entire collection from an estate. Because he had no real interest in handguns, he sold them dirt cheap! I mean really cheap - just to move them out of the display cases and make room for his long guns worth much more. Works for me!

I bought quite a few pristine collectible handguns from him and would routinely buy more than one at a time. Thankfully for me and my hunting bud's, almost all his clientele were only interested in the long guns - left more for us! :p :D

My wife would have bought the 19 and then had me resell it for her at a profit.
So, she could buy some more horse bling....

Place looks a little too "upscale" for me.

I doubt very seriously at this point of my life that I would end up anywhere near a black tie only event. However if by chance I did this would be my carry choice.
