Have a gentleman who has 6 one pound containers of Unique that he wants to sell me - have tried to research going prices for it, but they range from ~$75 to over $120 per pound on Gunbroker (not paying THAT). Anyone have a thumb on the going private sale market ?

Thanks

He hasn't named one yet, but I'm thinking not offering more than $40
What is he asking?
If I didn't already have enough (which I do), I'd be a buyer at up to $35 a pound.
I'd offer $200 for all 6 pounds and see what he says.
Sounds like a reasonable idea. I haven't seen any on the shelves, but even online (out of stock) seemed waaayyy high. Who knows when it will be available again?

Thanks

If I really need it and he wouldn't go for $200 for all 6, I'd probably be willing to sweeten the offer up $40 a pound ($240 for all 6), but I'd have to need it pretty bad to go any higher than that.
There are better pistol powders than Unique, but there aren't many that can be used across such a wide variety of calibers and loading levels. It truly is UNIQUE in that regard.

Don't forget sales tax, shipping and hazmat charges if you get it on line. That could easily be around $50 more or less. I was thinking about getting (2) lbs of W-W 231 from Natchez @39.99/lb but all the "extras" came to another $56.50. Even with $5.87 off per pound. The whole thing would have come to 68.4/lb. A local gunstore would have charged me $70.20/lb tax included. Think about that when asking him how much he'll sell it for.

I let 4 pounds sell at auction last week at 85 dollars for all. I have bought it for 10 dollars to 25 dollars for one-pound jugs. I have approx 15 pounds and need no more at this pointI would say 30 or under avg right now

Table at the last show had several new 1lb bottles of Unique@ $30/lb out the door. Tempting, but I had already snagged a new 8lb jug of 2400 for $200 and I still have plenty of unique.

I would have bought it anyway if I had to borrow money to do it.
Oh, I was tempted! Like others, I have been gravitating away from Unique but still have a few pounds in reserve. I'm sitting on plenty of HP38, 244 and Green Dot and need to use it. GD is a sleeper pistol powder and I've used it in a few larger bore pistol cartridges with nice results.

I like Unique, it's been my go-to handgun powder since I started reloading and you could buy lbs at the local Walmart for $25.
I don't like it enough that I'd pay a premium for it though. It's very versatile but those big flakes meter like garbage.
If I had to sell my remaining 10lbs, I'd put a $500 price on it and head straight over to whoever had Win231 for sale.
