I have not bought a revolver in maybe close to a couple years. I seem to rationalize myself out of everything I look at. I don't like J frames or nickel guns. I have a varied selection of K and N frames including my birth year K38. So what's left? I have no desire to collect every variation of a specific model or caliber, and I am not into antiques.

As for semi autos, I don't like black plastic, and I don't really like semi models beyond the 1911 original style. Not into modded out stuff or 2011 double stack styles. I have a couple Colts, a couple Sigs and a couple Dan Wessons. The Dan Wesson's are by far the best. They are like a jeweled action, with a wonderful trigger.

I have also taken to a 5.5" and 7" Model 41 Smith and Wesson, and well as a Ruger MK4 Target with and upgraded Volquartsen trigger, so there is lots of rimfire shooting going on.

So the question is, where do I go from here? I do not see myself headed to Wilson Combat or Nighthawk and the likes, but I am super fussy about triggers especially because I flinch from hundreds of thousands of 12ga trap loads.

Suggestions?

I don't buy revolvers very often either . A while back I bought a NIB 686 Silhouette , then I wanted a 29 Silhouette . Finally found a -3 that was NIB , but it's not any longer , neither of them are . You'll know when you want something if you're like me . Once you get that itch , nothing short of opening the wallet will scratch that itch .

I do a regular patrol of the gun and pawn shops and I buy what I find that I just can not live without. ;) I like revolvers and I like pistols and rifles and shotguns, but other than that, it is just finding a deal that brings out my wallet. I rarely go searching for something in particular. The last two pistols that I bought were Astra .25 mouse guns, they were there and the price was right.

I seem to be going to single shot 22 rifles, early German, Martini Cadets and a Haenel JJ Sport. Still have about 20 S&W revolvers and trying to reduce the heard a little. I’m enjoying offhand shooting at the 50ft indoor range and bench shooting at 50 & 100 yards at the outdoor club. Guess interest changes but still enjoy shooting a revolver. Larry

About a year and a half ago, I decided I wanted to have some high end European revolvers. In short order, I bought a Nighthawk (Lollar) Korth, two Ratzeburg Korths, and a Chapuis Manurhin.

That was a lot of fun! I sold the Lollar Korth and am currently listing the Manurhin for sale. Hanging on to the Ratzeburg Korths for the time being.

I sold several guns and dipped into some savings on that splurge, but, hey! It scratched an itch.

So, you might sell some guns/dip into into savings and get some high end revolvers. Reg Mag? (I had two. Sold one and gave the other to my brother. But I enjoyed them while I had them. Might buy another, come to think of it...)

Or, maybe you're moving away from revolvers. While I shot the Lollar Korth and one of the Ratzeburgs, the other Ratzeburg and the Manurhin remain unfired. Formerly I was pretty much exclusively a revolver guy, but I have been getting into semis this past year, carrying a Sig P365X, which sees range time, of course, along with a P320. After shooting six shooters for years, a 17-round mag is a lotta fun.

I sold most of my accumulation about ten years ago, and then started anew a few years later. I think I don't really enjoy a big collection, and as I get older I don't want to fret about what happens to a big collection after I pass. So my current practice is to have about a dozen handguns and try to sell one when I buy one.

Lotta ways to entertain yourself with firearms.

Have at it, sir!

I have been going down the semi road. I have no interest in Korth or registered magnums.
I did buy a CZ 457 and put a 6.6-24 Vortex scope on it. It takes a magazine, but I got the single shot insert. I have been burning through a lot of centerfire ammo and rimfire. I think that is where my head will stay for now, and when I return to GA, I will put some nice revolvers up for sale for others to enjoy

If you’ve got everything you want, great! Now you can spend your money on ammo and enjoy shooting. That’s what I do. (Mostly 😉) And maybe get some trigger work done on the guns you have that may need it.

I try to get to the indoor range once a week. Three guns, 25 rounds each. I usually wear out before I get everything used up. 😯

John17427 , funny you should mention those . The same person that had the nib 686 Silhouette had one . It was a nib Iver Johnson 10mm long slide . Never thought of the IV brand , but at $600 I couldn't pass it up . I was really surprised at the accuracy and trigger , it's really a decent pistol . I shoot clays at 100yd's at don't miss very often . I have a 1006 , 1076 and a 610-2 and let me tell you that extra inch sure does make a difference .

Pete, you sound like you need a decent used inexpensive but reliable revolver to play around with. Recently I’ve acquired several Rugers from the Six series. I’ve been pretty happy with what I’ve grabbed. This past Tuesday I got a stainless Sec. Six, with a six inch barrel. (I was ordered to grab it from our Forum family!) Of course it isn’t new, it’s a 1976 gun, 357 mag. Stainless steel so no blueing issues. $500 plus tax. Hell, you might even have a couple. In the past few months I’ve acquired 3 Sec. Sixes, a Speed Six, an SP101, and throw in the DAO Charter Arms I got new. I’m happy with them all; no junk and today I measured the trigger pulls on the Rugers. All good and they hit POA. (25 yards). I have a picture of my latest, the stainless. No beauty queen but it’ll outlast me for sure. Just an idea. I don’t know what you have or want, it’s only a suggestion and down the pike if I don’t want them. No major investment whatsoever! Just an idea. They grew on me!

Looking for 4 S&Ws to complete snub nose collection and that will be it. Headed to range today to test my latest Colt 1911 A-1 target . Some one that didn't know what they were doing had messed it up so picked it up at a show cheap. Changed lots of ruined internal parts, new target trigger and sear job along with a “ laying around” magwell main spring housing that didn't know what to do with. Trigger is about 3#s and slide is slick as glass due to some fitting with lapping compound.

Not handguns but....
Traditional muzzle loaders. Before you know it, you will be looking at/for/buying another flintlock rifle, and you'll want a musket, maybe a trade gun or 2 or 3, "correct" knives, moccasins, coonskin hats, real bever felt tricones, white canvas tents, hand stitching your own drop front trousers, etc. Nicotine aint got nuttin on black powder pilgrim. ;)
OH, Cannons, how could I forget cannons?

Work on your skills instead. Nothing teaches follow-through like trying to group at half-speed 450fps with an air pistol. I bring the pistol box to rifle practice for the kids' break time. Shown is a Feinwerkbau 65.
