Gunshop Discount Bin - What have you picked up?

I get my best value in the holster bins - I have bought two Milt Sparks 1911 holsters and two S.D. Myers Tom Threeperson holsters.

I do good on eBay as well - last week I bought an SD Myers (El Paso) 5" Threepersons holster in black (my usually color) for $24 - delivered!

I did get five S&W M&P .45 mags a couple of months back for $30 by the time I paid premium, tax and shipping.

Not exactly in the bargain bin but I figure it was a bargain - I picked up this 1923 Colt Commercial GM for $350 but it was some time ago!

It wasn't that good a deal, it had been reblued and so I had a local guy engrave it for me.

I built the sights myself, as a reasonable facsimile of the 1/10" optional sights Colt offered back in 1912.

I was in Utah for a match last year and stopped in to check out and support all the LGS. One of them had super friendly service, so I was inclined to spend more $$. As I made my way around the store, they had two large Rubbermaid totes (maybe 3 feet long?) at the end of the counter. Each was full to the top, and they were marked with '$10'. I dug through the first one and found some GOLD, so as I piled my swag on the counter the Manager said, 'You like that stuff? You can have the whole bin for $125'. I stared at my pile, looked at him and said, 'How about $100 for both bins?' He replied, 'Ohm I meant both bins. Yeah, I can do $100 for all of it. And you can have the bins.'

I poured all of it into one bin, secured the lid, and nested it inside the second bin, and stuffed it into my car.

That night in my hotel room I sorted out several dozen leather holsters, including 6 old leather competition holsters for 1911s and BHPs. Mag carriers, mags, two Safariland competition rigs for the 929 Performance Center 9mm, leather slings, swivels, CA Competition Works 12ga shell carriers, and the list goes on. Easily $2,500 worth of great stuff.

At a shop in AZ I scored 20 old Winchester Super X boxes of ammo, all full. 10 boxes of .300 H&H and 10 of 7x57 Mauser. $10 per box. I also scored some WW2 issue 1911 mags, a VZ52 mag in 7.62x45, and some surplus TSG mags. The mags were $5-$10 each.

I really like the comfortable IWB N82 Tactical holsters that cover the complete grip and have a nice sheepskin backing. I was in my LGS the other day and saw one in the discount bin...hmmm....wonder what this one fits? I picked it up and looked at the sticker saying "1911".

Cool...It was only $25 so I snagged it up. I didn't have one for a 1911 yet.

BTW, I've been looking for another one for my new Springfield Hellcat Pro with Viridian green dot and could not find out what ever happened to their web site...it was just gone. Did they go out of business? Crap, I really like their great IWB holsters! So, I did some more earching and found they must have been bought by Crossbreed. Sure enough...I found a N82 on the Crossbreed website and ordered one.

Do you remember what the guy in the bowling alley bar said?
' Sometimes you get the bar, sometimes the bar gets you .'
A while back, I really don't remember when and where,
I bought a Smith & Wesson holster from a junkbox.
Smith & Wesson holster should fit a Smith & Wesson right?
Well, maybe not. Turns out it fits a Colt.
Maybe I should turn in my Ready, Fire, Aim membership card!

I picked up a couple of surplus mag pouches for five bucks. I mounted one on the ROPS bar on my tractor and the other on my zero-turn mower. Works perfectly to hold my iPhone safely out of the dust and dirt so I can listen to an audio book through my bluetooth headset while mowing.

Now that is a great idea!!! I have a cub cadet lawn mower that is no where near as nice as yours but it gets the job done. One day I was out mowing the lawn when I noticed a bunch of colored paper and stuff where I just was. What the heck is that? When I got closer I discovered it was paper money. I had run over my wallet!. It somehow worked it's way out of the back pocket of my shorts and I nailed it.
$27 in cash, credit card, bank card, gun permit, drivers license, gas card, social security card, medicare card, everything all chopped up into little pieces. That was a pain replacing all that. But it could have been much worse. Stuff happens.

The LGS closest to me, and about the only one close by, tends to run high on prices but have the closeout table. Best was snagging 2 Model 41 mags for $20. Looked nearly new and perfect function. Also got a mag for a 1911, got home and realized it's 9mm, not .45, now lost in the garage but only $10. I'll find a pistol for it one day

About 35+ years ago the "box" had a shoulder/chest holster for a Thompson Contender, 10" barrel. Worked great. later modified to sit with a scope, and loaned it out to several others over time. I think I paid $10 for it.

Was down in Pa. hunting one October when my campground owner asked if I wanted to go along to a small range/COP Shop while he did his LEOSA Qualification...so I did...

In their used bin was a like new sent to K-frame RB Combats... Took them up to the counter and the owner said he had no clue what they were for...how's $5.00...

Combats, N nor K, really fit my hand well so they went on GunBroker...sold for a little over $200...which paid for my campground fee for the year....

I bought a couple of "tan" colored GI 1911 magazine pouches for $5 each. One still had a little piece of yellowed paper in it that had a typed note about removing the magazines when the pouch got wet so they wouldn't rust. I don't remember the maker's name on the back of the pouches but they were the WW1 style/color pouches with the sort of pinched in/pleated bottoms. I put the paper note back in the one that had it and just put both of them away for a later time.

I bought 30 safariland speed loaders for L,K and J frames for $2 apiece. A bunch of leather holsters pouches and slings over the years.

While not firearms related. I stopped in a country Ace hardware store on the way to one of largest traditional archery shoot in the country. The owner happened to be pulling a bunch of new old stock bear archery arrow sets and accessories. I asked what he wanted for the arrows. He said $10 a box. He had 30 box's of arrows and dozen or so quivers some shooting gloves. Mostly from the 60's and 70's. We settled on $300 for the lot. By the end of the weekend I cleared $2700 on my investment.

Gun Store Moved To New Location
Stopped by a medium size gun store about an hour away. They had moved about 5 years prior to my visit.
Had a nice, large, well organized wall featuring magazines from various brands. At bottom of S&W display, they had older original mags on display. Found 2 S&W 4040PD mags listed for $45 each. Took them to checkout. Older cashier said, "Oh, those price stickers are from the old store. How about $25 total for the two?" Drew my wallet faster than any CCW draw. The original mags are getting hard to find as they is a ball bearing detent that apparently some after market mags do not have.
