Suppressor Tax Elimination- Follow Up

+1

When we did BGC on a buyer at a gun show, it took maybe 10-20 minutes if they were busy. TN uses TICS rather than NICS, the difference being the TN Dept of Safety runs them.

Now, why it takes the BATFE (or used to) 12-13 months on a BGC is simply beyond me. Aside from them thinking THEY don't want YOU to get your piece in a timely fashion.
State law in Nevada allows the sheriff's office 120 days to process a CCW application including a background check. I am reliably informed that you can fill in a SF86 and get an interim secret clearance in less time.

Food for thought...
Tax stamp goes away Jan 1st, but hold off and bide your time if you plan on getting a suppressor like me. Why?
Once the tax is eliminated, the item will have to come off the NFA because the tax justifies it being on the NFA in the first place. No tax, no justification.
15 states have already sued the ATF on this and after the first one hits the SCOTUS it'll be taken off without justification, the prices will start to plummet on suppressors then.
FWIW, approvals are coming back in weeks right now is what we're seeing at work.

The NRA is also in on the suit, joining the 15 states and other gun rights groups.
I'm looking forward to seeing how certain segments of the industry evolve after the smoke clears
