I just picked up a 4513TSW from my local gun store. I shot it at their range and had a lot of reliability issues. Failures to feed, failures to eject, and a couple of double feeds. Does this model have reliability issues or is this a case of bad magazines, worn out recoil spring, ect.? Any help would be appreciate.

Always start with a cleaning. Recoil spring is a must for a pistol without a known range count.
Check the extractor for chips. If the magazine springs don’t feel firm, change them.
That’s always the first round of problem solving for me.
This is great info. Thank you so much. Any advice on spare magazines? I’m not having luck finding any for them.

The earliest 3rd Gen compact 45s (non-TSW) reportedly had some issues that were addressed back then.

All of mine are super reliable. Even able to load empty cases from the magazine.

As already mentioned above, I too thoroughly disassemble & clean any "new to me" purchases.

More than one has had undesirable amounts of dried oil/grease &/or grim in the internals that needed soaking & flushing out.

Need to start fresh from square one: mine get new recoil, hammer, & firing pin springs as well as magazine springs before they go to the range the first time, to increase reliability & lessen disappointments.

I bought a 4516 last year and after a range trip and cleaning, I found the ejector had broken sometime while shooting. it actually still shot fine. Sent it in and S&W replaced it free of charge. Make sure all is intact. Something could have broken.

But as others have said, replace the recoil and mag springs also, that may fix you up if nothing is broken.

Spare mags are very difficult to find. Folks want a mint on Ebay. I have had good luck browsing used mag boxes in gun stores I visit. Better luck in older stores that have been around along time. There is a big box gun store in GA that had some 4506 mags in stock a few weeks back If you are by chance close. No idea if they would ship. Old police trade ins, but they will work in your 4513, just stick out a bit.
