I Am So Sick Of Hearing the Term.....

The new generation have no social skills and no manners. They were raised on Twitter and gaming platforms.
You forgot to mention they can't count change to save their lives.....probably the main cause for the great tipping controversy.....just sayin(not a thread steal, one of my pet peeves)

Oh God! SOOOOO true!

A couple of months ago I got a special deal on a pizza. Medium three-topping pizza, $8.30. I show up to pick up the pizza. The girl behind the counter says, "its eight dollars and 30 cents."

I stick a dollar in the tip jar, then hand her a five, three ones, a quarter, and a nickel. She looks at the money... Then she looks up at me... Then she looks at the money again... Then she looks up at me with a slightly confused expression and says, "this is exact, right?"

I weep for the future of this country.

In my state, the 2017 Tax & Jobs Act resulted in flood of cash to the state coffers...massive surpluses. The problem is the people in charge blew it faster than it came in...and that is the underlying problem.
Exactly. It's not an income problem, it's a spending problem. No matter how much the taxes bring in, the politicians will always spend more. Hence, giving them more to spend -- through higher taxes -- is never a solution to anything!

And neither will lowering taxes - the results are crystal clear, less than a trillion in '80 to 37 trillion in debt now. The Gingrich 'pay-go' plan could have worked (it was working, in fact) if Congress had kept it.

This is why they are pushing so hard for a cashless economy...THEY CANT COUNT CASH!!!

And I was hoping to help you understand why the younger generation may feel as it does. That you choose not to accept that explanation is fine, but makes it no less true.
I absolutely DO understand your comments. For sure, the kiddies today resent the old folks. It is YOU that don't understand MY position.

I will not accept a personal classification based on the fact that I was born in 1949. I did not cause the problems that we have today. As a matter of fact, my entire professional career was directed at pollution prevention, energy savings and cost reduction. If I had been a legislator responsible for our country we would not be in this mess today. Unfortunately, I chose not to go into government, and that's why I'm not a millionaire today like they are.

Also, in my last position before I retired I was responsible for hiring young engineers, scientists and technicians. I was truly impressed with the talent available. As a matter of fact, I think they were even better than I when I was 21 years old. That said, I will not denigrate all the kiddies today, because I know that the bad ones are not representative of them all. So, I say to them don't P&M about boomers.

As I write this I am assembling my AK, AR and Models 25 and 27. I have to cut the grass at my camp and I intend to put a bunch of lead into the target backer. Thus, I will not respond for a few days, and only then if I get motivated.

I think I'll try that, next time a need a chuckle :D But you're right. It's a travesty how unprepared most young folks are for Life. If the stupid gets much deeper, it'll be unlikely that the Republic will recover, long term. There's a book, written by a 1950s FBI agent, who was assigned to infiltrate the communist party: "The Naked Communist". He describes the Communist party as two factions, at the time: those who prefer a military coup, and those who prefer gradual influence through higher education, media, and the all so globally influential Hollywood. Well, we know who won. The Chinese have poisoned ~850,000 Americans to death with fentanyl, aided by open borders. They learned that from the British, in the "Silk Wars", exchanging the far more (lab developed), lethal fentanyl for opium, the silk war drug. Main difference?: The opium wasn't disguised as other, far less lethal drugs. The CCP was extremely brutal, in purging China of widespread the opium addiction, of their early days. It's been years since I studied this, but IIRC, getting caught with any amount of opium was a death sentence. They simply exterminated addicts and dealers.

I am a 1951 model Boomer. What cracks me up is remembering my Grandpa talking about what is basically the same stuff many of you guys are. People haven't got any manners any more, nobody wants to work or do do a good job, they spend all there time watching TV or on the phone, they don't built anything they way they used to, the government is ruining everything and money is near worthless, the kids in HS don't learn what we learned in the 8th grade, nobody knows how to shoe a horse, etc etc etc, Yet I had a great 60 years after his dire reflections on society

Am I responsible for the botched Afghan withdrawal too?
Depends on who you voted for...

Actually it doesn't. One guy had 4 years to end the stupid war anyway he wanted and didn't. the other guy just up and did it. Poorly, true, but on the other hand he didn't let it drag on costing more lives and money.

This is the end result of a 2 party system where you only get to chose between the lesser of 2 evils
