Did they have the screws & escutcheons? Not to burst any bubbles, but you can buy a pair of factory brand new factory unfinished 1910s gold medallion stocks for $60 a pair. They are available on gunpartscorp.com
Here is what they look like when received, and what they look like when an oil finish is applied.View attachment 755702

I don't believe so.Did they have the screws & escutcheons?
"...checkered walnut service stocks with gold colored S&W medallions.""Also, the stocks are not original. The stocks prior to 1910 are either concave round top walnut without medallions or black hard rubber"
FYI, Got my letter from S&W and I thought it might be of interest here. Apparently some guns did come with these grips.

All I know is they were still case hardening them in 1909...Also, when did S&W stop case hardening the mushroom shaped extractor knob and begin to nickel them on nickel pistols?
The portion of your letter doesn't mention the finish. Was it shipped as a blue gun or nickel?
That was the main reason I got the letter and sadly it does not mention anything about finish. The portion of your letter doesn't mention the finish. Was it shipped as a blue gun or nickel?
