FYI, Got my letter from S&W and I thought it might be of interest here. Apparently some guns did come with these grips.

I thought those grips weren't available until 1911? Waiting for the knowledgeable to clarify...

Also, when did S&W stop case hardening the mushroom shaped extractor knob and begin to nickel them on nickel pistols?

Due to the lack of a "B" serial number prefix on the under-barrel stamp, it should have shipped with a nickel finish.

That was the main reason I got the letter and sadly it does not mention anything about finish.

That one paragraph I posted was the only info about my gun. The rest was generic info
