Doctors used to prescribe a Tylenol with codeine, If I remember correctly it was called a Tylenol 3! When I got attacked by Shingles those little pills were the only way I could get to sleep!

When I am returning from out of the country, I usually pay whatever local currency I have left towards my hotel bill. That way I don't have leftover foreign currency to exchange when I return.
as for meds, it is funny what is available with and without scripts in different countries. In Spain you need a script for lidocaine patches which you can buy over the counter here. There you can buy 800 mg ibuprofen over the counter. here you need a script. Penicillin in Mexico, over the counter.

Wife and I returned from Europe by way of the UK just two weeks ago. We use Global Entry and had no questions or issues . We were expecting something as to extra security and scrutiny- about the same levels as we normally encounter.
They are no longer in production. It was an over the counter super aspirin that had 7.5gr. of Codeine it it. In this state Codeine is a controlled substance, if you are taking 222's on a regular basis as some of my friends did back in the day and get a DUI test or for holders of a CDL after accident urine test you will come back positive which where I worked was the end of your career. They were quite popular back in the 70's,80's...into the 90's, before the advent of the UA and zero tolerance.
They don't make them anymore Caj, 7.5grs of Codeine...they were pretty popular. I dont know how many you could buy at one time. You were only allowed two bottles to bring back at the border as I remember, maybe one that was open and one sealed. They had some funny rules at the border. They got wise to us buying Cuban rum and putting it in a non Cuban bottle, bottles had to be sealed. Ahhhh Cuba Libre
Actually, you can only buy 400 mg ibuprofen over the counter here in Spain. Larger doses need a script
