this is the last 39 I purchased. it has been fired but it is in very good condition. the magazine disconnect has been removed. it has a green insert in the front sight ramp and a white outline rear sight blade. no special markings on the box label. when I bought this, it came with a 39-2 slide. I have fired it and it functions great.
I was told it might have some history with the Berkeley CA PD, but this has not been confirmed.
any of you 39 history buffs ever hear anything about the BPD ever using the 39?

Looks like a great gun and I'm really curious about the green insert on the front sight. All the factory ones I have seen have a red insert. I'm speculating it's an after market addition and hoping someone here knows more about it.

Nice Model 39. The white outline rear sight and color insert in the front sight were definitely aftermarket modifications. I'd say someone actually relied upon such a pistol for defensive purposes.

What's a good 39 "no dash" worth these days?
Depends on if you are buying or selling and your definition of good. There are many variables that can change the value such as original box, steel frame, 4 digit S/N, condition, etc. An average range is $500-800 but a nice 4 digit s/n in the original box can hit $1000 or more. The same steel frame gun can hit $2000.
