I hadn't considered those, but they were not the 4 digit model numbers. They were the value line which did have plastic guide rods etc.

It is. But I am partial to the 4 digit models. I almost consider the value line as a separate line from the other 3rd gens. I would imagine a revamp of the 3rd gen wouldn't be the value line.
