GI .30 Carbine Ammo

Specifically only loaded GI ammo? Unless CMP still has some for sale, it's not often encountered. Maybe some could be found at gun shows or at some websites like GunBroker. I have about 1000 rounds of GI ammo, mainly WWII, put away. For the most part I reload all ammo for shooting purposes. I once bought about 5000 pulled military .30C bullets, still have maybe 2000 remaining, probably have around 1000 fired cases, mainly GI, for reloading.

I'm only seeing one legit seller of Lake City on Ammoseek.
CMP may occassionally have some, but one must be an eligible buyer to mail order, or buy at a National match.
Your best bet is local purchase from someone who doesn't need it anymore.

There's a fair amount of counterfeit ammo sold as USGI, works OK but accuracy is awful.
A fair amount of the factory ammo is like that these days and I see a big difference between original milspec brass or good factory ammo and the cheap ammo or fake GI in terms of accuracy when reloading.

Even modern "range" ammo is more consistent than surplus that has been stored for 50 plus years under questionable conditions. Modern manufacturing tolerances are so much tighter the modern ammo is typically more accurate because tighter tolerances translate into a more consistent product. From the ammo I generally see, it is cheaper to buy modern ammo so that is what I buy.
