I was wondering what the favorite finish is on the S&W revolvers our forum members buy. I ask because I always liked stainless steel models better for ease of cleaning and look. I recently have been buying both Blued and Nickel guns also and I'm starting too really like all of them.

You have a fabulous collection of S&W pistols. I didn't think to include all in the poll as I was trying to determine if there is a strong preference.
I'm having to slow down as I owned one S&W revolver a month ago that I inherited from my Dad. When all that I bought recently arrive I will be up to 9 S&W revolvers.

If I had to pick one I would go with BRIGHTLY polished stainless.

Almost as much bling as nickel with easy maintenance.

Sir, FWIW, I like blued pistols, either satin or high polish, with a slight preference for satin.

While I appreciate the utility of stainless steel and nickel, I simply do not care for "silver" guns.

JMHO.

Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.

I love blue guns. I like the look of factory fresh deep blueing and, I also like a nicely worn blue gun. It has a story behind it. I like the look of a crisp nickel gun, but, worn and carried nickel gun never looks that good to me. Strangly, all my blue guns live in the safe the vast majority of the time, and, the stainless ones get used and carried.

I remember when stainless first got really polular, I didn't like it and satyed with blue. With age, comes wisdom. Now, I like stainless alot.

I love the really deep blue that S&W has on their guns from before the mid 80's. I'm not as in love with flat blue on the Model 28.

For shooting I like stainless guns because they are so easy to clean. I have just bought and not received two Nickel guns with one being a Model 29-2 unfired and the other a model 27-2 that is suppose to be LNIB. I'm sure they are beautiful but I doubt if I will shoot them.

I don't have a favorite finish. What I like is the looks of a gun with a lot of character, but well taken care of. I love it when people post pictures of there carry guns, or old service revolvers.

My first Nickel gun showed up at the FFL today and when I got it home and cleaned it up I said " Wow this is one great looking gun". When I say I cleaned it up I just applied a coat of Flitz wax on it and buffed it out. There will be more Nickel guns in my future. The gun is a 29-2 and is unfired and the only thing weird is the grips seemed miss matched in color and they had some kind of shiny lacquer on them.

Here it is before I bought it. I'll post better pictures later.

I need and all of the above answer... Plus, Silver Aluminum and color case hardened.... But maybe that answer is not appropriate IN THIS FORUM?
