Does anyone have one of these new models??

When will they start shipping?

Any and all information would be appreciated.

I checked with RSR who are major S&W distributors. They have heard of the model but have been given no other info from S&W. Best guess would be mid-late summer. This seems typical of S&W and just happened with the new 3 inch 1911 and the 9mm 1911.

This one will be hot at $499 LIST price.

Because S&W is running 24/7 on the M&P line along with their $120 million in backorders, my best guess this new .22 version is pushed back to 3rd or 4th calendar quarter.

S&W is using the Thompson Center facilities for all M&P15 barrel production. I've got another 4 month wait on my M&P15 "VTAC" model!

S&W reports year-end earnings & sales in a few weeks...maybe we'll hear an update on the .22 version during the conference call.

I had a chance to handle several of these, take them apart and get a great demonstration of how & why they work, etc. by the S&W people at the NRA convention. They are cute & fun gun and they will sell a ton of them. The estimate was they would be in the hands of dealers "soon" whatever that means. They are a neat gun, but I'm old school. I don't see them taking the place of my Ruger 10-22, or my Remington Nylon 60, that reside behind my pick up's seat. Being in Calif., the ones sold here will only have a 10 round magazine, which puts them equal to my Model 41.

Hello, Was just at the Funshop yesterday and they had the Colt version of the ".22". Looked exactly like the .223/.556 version and was $699. Pretty spendy for a .22 in my opinion.

Hopefully S&W keeps the price around the $499 mark. It was pretty cool tho.

Eh, it's not that bad, really. I paid nearly $400 for my Savage bolt .22, and higher-end bolts like the CZ's and Anschutzes are even more. Allowing you to train on your manual of arms for $0.03/shot instead of $0.35-40/shot is worth a LOT to me... heck, a good caliber conversion upper is $500 by itself; this allows you to do it without swapping parts.
