It's only a few for my 44 but the lube is completely missing. Any household stuff I can use to patch them up? Candle wax, crayon, sizing wax? I do not want to just pitch the bullet in the trash.
The lube came off some of my 240gr LSWC. Any substitue?

Don't throw them away. Just go ahead and shoot them. It won't hurt anything. Not every bullet has to have lube. If you don't shoot them all one right after the other and fire some bullets that do have lube along with them, you should be OK. Load them up, keep them separate, and throw one in each cylinder you shoot - just to use them up. (Yes, I am "a little frugal."

M29since14 is right. If you feel you absolutely cannot shoot an unlubed bullet, you can finger-lube with a little Johnson's Paste Wax. Of course, if you have a bunch, you can use Lee's Liquid Alox, too. That stuff serves me very well.

It is the lube on the shank and in the lube groove(s) that does the job, not what is on the nose, and this is all inside the case. Just shoot them.

Do you have some Johnson's paste wax? If so it is an excellent bullet lube by itself. Rub a little into the grooves of the bullet and let it dry then load and shoot. Bullet casters have a million (no kidding here) lubes that they concoct to lube their bullets and most work well. Go to the "Castboolits" forum and search lube recipes you will be amazed.

Candle wax would be OK as would most anything that dries before you load it. Dry is good. The concern is getting liquid petroleum products in the powder.
Most of us probably way over lubricate, so an occasional bullet with none is certainly not a problem

You weren't clear you were talking about BULLETS instead of loaded ammunition. What it sounded like you referred to is the lube on the exposed portion of the bullet had the lube worn off by handling. From others resonses that is what they took you to mean also.
The Johnson's Wax suggestion is excellent. Buying a bottle of Lee Liquid Alox would work too. The Johnson's is probably he better for lubricating than the Lee product.

My experience is that commercial casters will put lube on cold bullets, and a lot of it comes right back off. When I buy bullets in the winter the bottom of the box will be covered with pieces of lube that've flaked off. The problem isn't nearly as bad in the summer months. On the other hand I shake all my bullets in Alox, so it doesn't matter, from a lube standpoint anyway. Sure is messy, though.

Like several others here I apply a light coat of Lee Liquid Alox to all of my cast lead bullets. I have had several that "lost" their lube while being shipped. I apply a dab of Alox, let dry, and load as usual.

Next time I order "stuff" I will get some. This is not the first nor the last time this has happened. Would be good to have some around.

Just shoot them. I've had that same problem several times over the years, and have never had a problem with it. The lead goes down the barrel smoothly and a few with no lube makes no difference. If you are loading up some Really Hot loads, make sure you have lube on those.
