Best Holster? Lobo Gunleather, Simply Rugged, etc?
I'm looking for a hoster for my 5" 686. I have been leaning towards the simply rugged sourdough pancake due to great reviews on this sight. However, I've also heard great things about the lobo gunleather holsters. The lobo is a bit cheaper. Does anybody have experience with both that can compare?
I want something very comfortable that will hold the gun pretty close to my body. I don't need anything fancy, just a good quality holster that will work well. Thanks.

I have both. Their basic pancakes are similar especially if you want dual strongside/cross draw carry. Both will do the job but Lobo offers many more options and styles. I have one SR and 3 from Lobo with 2 more on order.

I own lobo and have had simply rugged...for me, the simply rugged was a very basic rig (mine was unmolded).....where as the lobo is much more detailed and holds the gun better...

I have both. I believe it depends on your use. If you want a holster for outdoor field use, where you may be subject to woods use, and may want a little more protection I would choose the Simply Rugged. If you want a CCW holster, I would choose the Lobo. Both are very good, the Lobo is more "molded" to the gun but less leather to clear when drawing, the Simply Rugged has more leather higher up on the gun for more protection and great retention.

I also have both. Here are pictures of the same gun, (same gun, different grips). It is a 442, but it gives you an idea about the Lobo holster and a S. R. holster that are made for the same gun. With appoligies to S. R., I like the Lobo holster the best. I am now waiting for one of Ray's, (Lobo) Enhanced Pancake Holsters for the same gun.

I have never had any simply rugged stuff but I have Lobo leather and I like it, I have an enhanced Avenger for a 2 inch model 10, I am in the deciding stages of what to buy from lobo leather for my 3 inch 36.
If you go with lobo leather you can't go wrong.

Lobo makes some gear I'd like to try but I like that high leather top on the SR(have used them for about four years now, completely happy). Bell Charter Oak also makes some high top pancake style rigs that look really good. You might try a general internet search for holster makers and take a look at the sites which come up. There's a whole bunch of them out there with some really great looking stuff. There's a long list of links on the Forum somewhere but for the life of me I can't find it.
Ok. I just found it and bumped it up. Take a look at "Holster Links;" lots of fun to look through even if you NEVER buy anything!

"H Richard" is right on (100%), however Lobo Gunleather has alot better Customer Service.. IMHO (go Lobo)!!!
