Default Alfonso's of Hollywood Leather

Alfonso's, maybe my favorite maker, deserves a thread.

Best known for Hollywood cowboy leather (there are some other threads here detailing the history of Alfonso Pineda), Alfonso's shop also makes top-quality field, concealed carry, etc., holsters, among other leather items.

Here is a recent find, an interesting paddle holster:

The paddle is rough-out leather encasing a formed steel paddle. The attachment allows a few degrees of swivel forward or back, which is handy. If you're not familiar with Alfonso's work, everything about them is sturdy, really well-built holsters with double row stitching one of their calling cards, quality well-boned thick leather, good snaps, everything top-notch. I would almost call them over-built, they're that good. When I find these cheap, I grab them. Anyway, here's how the paddle is attached:

Here's another one, for the same gun:

I have a few more Alfonso's rigs but need to get photos of them.

Let's see yours, please!

Very nice, although frankly I'm more attracted to gear from Fredericks of Hollywood.

Here's one I picked up a couple weeks ago. It was made by Alfonso in 1985 with his signature. It's mint condition and was made for musician/actor Frank Stallone, brother of Rambo, and so stamped. Stallone is a gun collector so I thought it strange he would sell this fine piece, but he did. Note the tooling goes into the holster pouch itself. The "spike" in the buckle has been removed, I guess to assure no one would put the holster on and shove a gun in it. there are no scratches inside. This rig has a few features I've never seen on other Alfonso rigs. Stallone played Ed Bailey, who Val Kilmer stabbed at that card table near the beginning of Tombstone.

Complete with Alfonso's spelling errors, LOL.
I loved going down there when I worked in North Hollywood.

I debated for a couple days on selling this one as a snub Python is out of my league at the moment and I don't have a short L-frame anymore, but decided it was just too nice to not keep (maybe I'll get that Python someday, who knows). Without further ado, here's the new prize of my small but growing Alfonso's collection:

I got some other Alfonso's goodies in today, too, I'll try to get photos tomorrow.

Yes, it should fit a 2.5" Python.

Ok Alfonso's fans, here is my one piece of "Hollywood" leather.

I got it back in the summer of '78 from a veteran police officer. Just prior to starting on the local PD, I saw this on his belt and asked him where I could get one like it. He removed this holder, took off the badge and handed it to me. "Just get me a cup of coffee." was his reply.

I got him the coffee and have had this ever since.

It was a long time before I figured out just who "Alfonso's" was.

^ Even with something as simple as a badge holder, you can see how well-built (over-built) that piece is. Thanks for showing it, 153.

Here's a nice rig that arrived yesterday. Belt, SAA holster and cuffs pouch, all in like-new condition. Again, we see the simple black with white stitching motif. I feel particularly lucky to have found this set because I've needed an Alfonso's belt but it's difficult finding one my size. This one happens to be large enough and will work with all the other matching holsters I have.

Here's another, an interesting design for a 1911. This holster is steel-lined like the old fast draw holsters and can be worn outside the belt traditional-style or you can attach a belt loop (2 sizes are included) via a 1-way snap on the front for inside the waistband carry.
