Holster for 4" N-frame?
I'm looking for a holster to carry a 4" N-frame concealed.
I like the Don Hume JIT holsters for L-frame S&Ws. Can't find one for a N-frame. Their website says to call for info. Hmmm.
I want to carry a 4" N-frame tightly to me, and feel the holsters such as the JIT would work best. If it isn't one that slides on the belt that way, I would also look at one that goes under the belt, outside the pants.
It's OK if the barrel protrudes out the bottom.

N frame holster
I have two N frames (28,625), and you will need the proper belt (1.5") for sure. Galco CombatMaster is a good choice if you need it quickly.. I have several holsters custom made by Harold French of Red Cent Custom Leather in NC (recentcustomleather.com). Great work at a reasonable price, made to your need.

Check out LOBO Gunleather. Ray, the owner is a Forum member. A few years ago I bought an IWB holster from him for a 4" N-Frame. It is extremely comfortable and the revolver disappears under a sweatshirt.
Oh, and don't tell him I said so, but his prices are way too reasonable for the quality of the product.

Have a Milt Sparks AW200 (Hank Sloan Special) and matching belt, about 38" long, as I recall. I got it for a M24-3 4", may have worn it once. Feel free to PM me if interested.

Recently had this Simply Rugged Pancake Holster made for my Model 58. Own many holsters from them and have been very satisfied with the quality.

With the proliferation of semi-auto pistols over the past 30 years or so quite a few holster makers have concentrated on the newer handgun models. The selection of holsters for revolvers has gradually diminished.
Some are surprised to learn that well over half of all orders in my shop are for revolvers, and many of those for models that have been out of production for decades. Most popular model, hands down, is the S&W J-frames. Second most popular is the S&W N-frames. We fill hundreds of orders every year.

I would strongly suggest that you use a double layered & stitched Horsehide leather belt of 1 1/2" in width. Horsehide is stiffer and stronger than Cowhide and will remain that way for a longer period of time. While some may disagree..... this has been my hands-on personal experience and now only buy Horsehide belts, holsters and accessories for handguns. I get mine from Kramer Leather but there are others who also now work in Horsehide. There are a few Makers here on the Forum you might want to contact as well.
I would also suggest trying to make the belt as "dress-like" as possible (no engraving, carving, embossing, embellishments) and using a rather plain buckle as NOT to scream out - GUN-BELT! I'd also suggest getting one in Black if you dress mostly in jeans (least obvious color) or what ever color best matches your daily garb.

A Bianchi belt scabbard works for me.

It's inexpensive, works well, and looks good.
A set of short, thin grips made all the difference for carry comfort.

Kramer Horsehide. Best I've found to hold the gun in tight, be comfortable all day and instant access.

Desantis 001-44 leather for my 29-2 4 inch, for hiking and nature photography trips in NE Mn.
Good gun fit, and rides high and tight to the body.
You just don't know what your going to encounter.
My other half handles the photography, I'm just out for the exercise.

4" is a little long for IWB carry, but I have one by Ryan Grizzle for a 4" L-frame which resembles a Sparks SS2 and works pretty well. I expect that the newer version by Grizzle which resembles a Sparks VM2 would be more comfortable. I have a pair of VM2s for 3" L and N frames respectively.
An OWB would be more comfortable, and have many potential sources. My latest purchase is for a 4" M66, a Country Boy from Grizzle with snaps instead of slots. I have a closetfull of holsters, but this one is arguably the best design and workmanship of the lot for OWB revolver carry.
A pancake holster (2 piece) holds the gun flatter to your side than a folded design (1 piece). You usually have to span a belt loop with a wide holster like this, and it's easier to snap it on than to thread an heavy belt through a slot, the belt loop, then the other slot.

I like the Milt Sparks PMK...here with a 3" 657, but it also fits my 4" 629-4 very well.

I have both Lobo and Simply Rugged products, along with Bianchi, Roys Original, Buchmeyer, and a few others. I'd go with one of the two I first listed. Both Ray and Rob are top notch folks to deal with, and their quality is first rate.

Ya think????!!!!
4 inch barrel, big fat cylinder, OUCH!!!! Makes me chuckle, though. Even a skinny guy needs to buy pants a size or two bigger for that!
Some of those pictures do not, in my eyes, show 4" guns. They look smaller to me.
I have a couple of El Paso Saddlery holsters for my 4" N frames and I can tell you I ONLY carried a concealed N-frame on a long drive cross country and that was in one of their holsters designed for the purpose. Otherwise, no thank you, that's way more gun on my belt than I like. YMMV, obviously.

I've actually had really good luck carrying my 4" 627 in this Galco IWB. Its just as comfortable as any other IWB holster/gun combo I've used. Admittedly I use the DeSantis OWB more though.
I couldn't find a holster I liked for my 325TR, so I went to work with the Kydex and came up with another that I really like...

Man that kydex holster looks great! I really like the way it holds the gun tight to the body.

I carry 3'' and 4'' N frames a lot and use Simply Rugged holsters and belt they seem to hold tight to the body and this is important when trying to conceal a gun of that thickness and I am a big fellow 320# 6' 1'' they are hard to conceal under light clothing unless it is fairly loose fitting hope this helps

I made this "minimalist" holster that fits N frame S&W revolvers of any length.

Thanks - I like how it turned out. Its very comfortable for all-day carry (not that the 325TR weighs a lot) and like you said, its close, so it makes concealment easy.
