I saw where they changed owners and manufacturing facilities in November. Has anybody bought a holster from them since the change? Was interested in an enhanced pancake holster but kinda wonder if the quality is the same.

Run a search, there's been a couple threads on this.

Bottom line: Ray stands behind the family who purchased Lobo Gun Leather, and several members report receiving holsters worthy of the Lobo name. ;)

Howdy. My name is Ray Cory, founder of Lobo Gun Leather. In August, 2015 I made the decision to retire after 43 years in the business. In September I was contacted by Mark Fedders of Orange City, Iowa, who was operating Sioux Leather along with his son, Matt. They expressed an interest in taking over Lobo Gun Leather.

In late September, 2015 the Fedders travelled to Pueblo, Colorado and spent a week with me in the production shop. They are both very accomplished leather workers (Matt is also a master at hand-carving in the Sheridan floral style), and it was obvious that a transition would require only familiarizing them with my designs and production methods. A deal was made.

On November 8, 2015 after all pending orders had been completed and delivered the Fedders loaded up the shop for moving to Iowa. On November 16, 2015 I arrived at their facility to assist with the first few production runs. Everything went very smoothly and I am very pleased with the quality of products under the new ownership. I am also very impressed with the new owners' commitment to customer service.

After spending a week on-site I returned home. I now consult with the Fedders a few times per week, as questions arise or some clarification is required. I have also agreed to remain on staff to assist with product design as may be needed (a new Compact Single Magazine Pouch design was being implemented during the transfer, and the Fedders have adapted some useful changes in the Tunnel Loop Magazine Pouch design with my total support).

I am attaching some photos taken during that first production period showing Mark, Matt, younger brother Luke, and the production shop where Lobo Gun Leather now makes its home. The shop is nearly 5 times the space I was using, it is very well equipped, well lighted, and provides for very efficient work flow.

I have no doubt that this change of ownership will provide customers with the best in quality and customer service.

Best regards.

PS: Mark is about 20 years younger than me, and Matt is more than 40 years younger, and young Luke is expected to apprentice into the business. So it appears very likely that Lobo Gun Leather will continue long after I am gone wherever it is that old hide-pounders end up!

I was going to say, before Ray chimed in, that Ray wouldn't have sold his company to just anybody! There are reviews around here of the new work, and it looks excellent!!

I just received an Offset Belt Clip IWB from the new Lobo. It is well made and fits my Model 10 perfectly. I really like the way this holster carries. We had an issue with shipping. The holster was shipped as indicated by Mark, however the holster never arrived. I contacted Mark after a couple of weeks informing him that it hadn't arrived. He immediately made me another and shipped it. It arrived yesterday. The mail can do goofy things and I am impressed with how quickly Mark corrected the issue. The new Lobo is a stand up company. Buy with confidence.

Hi:
I contacted the "New Lobo" Leather Company in reference to a perceived problem with a holster via E-mail. Mark contacted me several times via telephone. Mark is a very pleasant and knowledge person and is very committed to customer service. I will continued to purchase and use "Lobo" holsters.

I just got an IWB from them for a 686 and couldn't be happier. The holster is rock solid, well constructed, sits comfortably on the belt....basically it's like Baby Bear's stuff "Just right." Only had a few emails exchanged with Mark, but he was always prompt, and the holster was delivered before expected.

Just ordered a pancake from new Lobo for a snub model 10. I'll update when I receive it, but the communication was fast and it seems the customer service continues to be top notch. I have a great feeling about it, just as I did whenever I ordered from Ray.

While I cant comment on the quality of old Lobo because I don't own one, I do have 4 from the new Lobo. The quality is extremely high and the price is more than reasonable.

Mark is very accommodating and will take the time to answer all your questions and concerns.

I am very happy with the product and will be a life long customer.

3/4+ of my holsters were made by Ray. I haven't bought any new ones recently but plan to keep buying the Lobo brand. Excellent bang, so to speak, for the buck.

I just got my new model 1 pancake for a newly purchased Colt Gov't 1911. This makes my 5th Lobo holster, the 1st from the new owners. Mark is putting out the same quality product that Ray did for years. Thanks man.

A couple members have mentioned four to six weeks now. You can always contact Lobo Gun Leather directly to confirm. ;)

4 to 6 is pretty short by the standards of most custom makers....

May have to look them up, and must've been asleep at the wheel, as I didn't even know Ray had retired!
