I think you've been had.

I wouldn't fool with the hassle of trying to get a refund on shipping costs. I'd pick up the phone, call them, tell them to cancel your order, and put the money back on your card. And don't even fall for the "restocking fee" scam. Or if your card hasn't already been charged, call the card issuer and just cancel it yourself. Tell them not to accept the transaction.

Then I'd look for a manufacturer/maker who'll fulfill their obligations to the customer.

Or better yet, shop for a holster at area stores and LGSs. In my area, there are several stores and LGSs who stock a good selection of Galco stuff. Might be the same where you live.

A holster has to be something really special...like custom made for me...for me to order one sight unseen online.

All this is just my opinion, okay?

Some of the posters might need to take a long slow breath, or maybe take a heart pill.

You haven't been had. Galco Gunleather isn't going to be scamming people for $81. It's not uncommon for an item to be in stock, the last one be sold, and then another one be sold before the website gets updated.

Ideally a retailer should e-mail you to advise you the item is back ordered and give you the option of keeping it back ordered or canceling the order. Check your spam file and you might find the notification.

Also, on most credit cards you have 60 days after the charge is posted to contest the charge. But before you call your card company:
1) check to see if the card was even charged - many companies will wait until the item is ready to ship to charge the card; and if they have
2) call Galco first to cancel the order and get your card credited. You can't contest a charge just because an item is back ordered, unless the merchant refuses to cancel the order.

----

With that said, if you have to wait a couple months to get a non custom item should be in stock, it opens up lots of options, such as getting the same item from another retailer sooner, or ordering a custom holster that could be delivered in the same time frame.

I also agree with the suggestion to check your local gun shops. It's just not possible for a local gun shop to stock every possible item, so on-line is often your ultimate destination, but I always try to give the local shops a try first. It's in my interests to keep them in business and I'm willing to pay a little extra to keep the local purchase options open.

I'd cancel it. If you still wanthe holster see f someone else has it in stock. Might be cheaper that way with a quicker delivery time.

I had the Hornet and bought it from LAPG. The holster was OK, but I ended up giving it to my dad and got a Milt Sparks PMK. While the PMK is more expensive, it is 10 times better than the Hornet.

I like the Galco Hornet holster for the S&W 640-2; for me it works well appendix or cross draw, but I usually wear it right hip under the belt reversed with butt forward, ... unfortunately they don't make a left hand model in left... I got mine within a week with no problems and asked them if they were going to make a left handed one... they said no....
