Barranti Holsters

I’ve been very pleased with my dealings with Barranti holsters. My holsters took around ten weeks to appear, and they were what I was expecting in terms of quality. I’ve been meaning to order another, but figured I’d let them settle in their new location first.

Here's a man who knows what he's talking about. Yes, a willingness to wait a very, very, VERY long time for a particular maker's holster is a sign that someone is acquiring what Guns & Ammo called a 'lodge pin' to show off at the local pistol club or p.d. We holster makers are a dime a dozen, few among us make anything that PERFORMANCE WISE is any better than another's. And recently I spotted on another forum, a pair of Sparks holster with a painted finish vs an aniline full grain finish one has a right to DEMAND on a first class product.
Not all of us. I became acquainted with Doc before Barranti Leather was a household word. I contacted him about repairing a cut up welt on a dog ear Myres that I acquired ( photo of repair in your book ). He graciously accepted my request and not only did he do a great job, but he was easy to talk to, turned it around in a short time, and at a more than reasonable cost. That alone won my loyalty. I usually keep one or two of his "place holders" while I decide what I want him to conjure up for me next. I feel the fact that my wait time has increased is more closely related to his building a business based on his merit, rather than whipping out a few gimmes for the journalists.

Bruce

OP any update on the holster?

As a matter of fact, just yesterday he replied to my morning email and as I thought, the move set them back. He'll be on mine next month. Very good guy to deal with. Gotta get the cobwebs polished off my gun now. I haven't been to a good pig roast since the '80s & '70s.

I agree Doc Barranti is indeed a stand up guy and I think his leatherwork is the best of the best. But if his wait times weren’t so long, I’d definitely order more from him. I waited just shy of a year for a carved holster and that seems a bit excessive. And no, I don’t think a credit card should be charged nearly a year before the goods are delivered. Hopefully now that his move is completed, things will improve. Fantastic craftsmanship but the process could be improved.

It is typical to pay upfront for a lot of different types of products, as the maker has to invest in supplies, their own labor, etc. In the grand scheme of things, that is not a big deal. I get it, no one wants to wait, but if you want is a specific item that does a specific thing, such is life.

As you found out, the move to Texas added considerably to wait times. It affected me with a couple of holsters. I have 6 or 7 of Doc’s holsters and every one from the plain direct line to the fully carved versions with some custom “tweaks” were and are spectacular and worth the wait
