I just got this little Bauer 25 and like the idea of carrying it as a BUG (MY choice - PLEASE do NOT turn this into a caliber war thread).

However, even though this little mouse gun has a nice positive-action safety, I'm not comfortable carrying it with one in the pipe in my pants pocket without the trigger being covered.

I don't want to carry it without one in the chamber and I definitely don't want to give up having the extra round on hand.

So, after doing a little online browsing shopping for a decent pocket holster I wasn't finding anything I liked for a reasonable price. I was running errands that took me close by the Tandy Leather store yesterday anyway, so I stopped in and picked up some nice heavyweight black cowhide scraps, and took a stab at making my own.

I used the gun to make a cardboard pattern and then more or less copied the general shape of the Galco Pro636 that I use for pocket carrying my LC9.

Seems to work quite well. Not bad for $2 in scrap leather and about an hour and a half of playing around. I think my next attempt will probably be a very basic 1911 hip holster.....

Nice. I've been thinking about building a couple myself, but realistically I don't have time.

Have a go at it man.

It really didn't take that much time.
1/2 hour to make the pattern.
15 minutes to cut it out and trim it up.
An hour or less to do the stitching.
I did the cutting and stitching while sitting in my armchair watching a movie.

FWIW, I used those black spring-bindery-clips (made for holding stacks of paper together) to hold the seams in alignment while I did the stitching. I did the stitching with waxed thread and an old leather-sewing awl that I bought at the same Tandy store a few years ago.

I do need some better cutting tools though. All I have right now is a pair of heavy kitchen shears for the big cuts and a small pair of really sharp scissors for small detail trimming.

If you are serious about getting into holster making, check out Snubbyfans Youtube channel where he goes step by step showing how he makes holsters. Actually quite informative and diversifies into Cigar Reviews and Grillin' too! :D

It's perfect! I built its near-twin for my .45 DoubleTap. No one was making them at the time so I was my only option. The more you carry it, the better it will mold around the gun. Mine has been in my pocket every day for 3 years now.

I like it. Looks like you paid attention to details.
I carried a Bauer for a short time as a backup in the 80s. Nice little gun. Fits pretty well in some of the old design handcuff cases, too.
