Default .500 Chest holster

I`m going on a pig hunt next spring and I`d like to take my 500.
Anybody got any real world advise on a good chest holster?

Leather is the preferred material.

Thanks,
Steve.

One way to carry a large or scoped handgun is in a padded soft handgun case. Add D rings if necessary so you can attach a shoulder strap. It can be carried with the strap across the chest, and the case under the opposite arm, like a muzzleloader possibles bag.

The case can be partially unzipped on the end when still-hunting, or zip it shut for security in rough country. This works very well, and it is easier to carry a large handgun like this than with any holster that I have used (IMHO).

What is the length of the barrel? This will be important if a fast draw is needed. Maybe a owb will be the best way to go. I made a 454 Casull OWB holster for a fellow in Alaska.

Thank you,

I have friends at Western Images Leatherworks in Colorado that make chest rigs. Chest Rigs

This is their #1 selling holster. One can buy different "pouches" for different pistols/revolvers. They have made them for everything from a SiG Sauer P238 up to a Desert Eagle.

I spoke to the owners Terry and Marie at a gun show recently. Marie mentioned the number of different countries they are shipping the chest rigs to. She said someone in France ordered one for an S&W 500 and wondered what someone in France would use a 500 for. I surmised it was to stop the terrorist and the truck.

Default OF COURSE NOW IT SLIPS MY MIND

Member ridered/redrider??? has posted about an Alaskan made leather chest rig that looked very good, and expensive. The truss you will have to find elsewhere.

Check out Diamond D. That's pretty much their specialty, chest holsters. Simply Rugged is another one to check out.

I just got a DeSantis Terminator custom-made for my 8 3/8” Model 57. Check them out. They are made primarily for a S&W 500 and are still available.

There was one on a large auction site recently that looked new for 1/2 price of a new one.

The Terminator and the Alaskan Guide’s Choice holster are two of the nicest chest holsters out there, and a third is Frontier Gunleather, which is the company John Bianchi started when he sold his holster company.

Diamond D Holsters - just read another thread on a similar question.

Here's an older thread on the topic.
Let see some X-Frame holsters!

What ever brand you go with I'd make sure you get one with a foam stuffed Pigskin pad that is slightly on the wider side. This will distribute the weight a bit better and the Pigskin will usually not give you a rash from wearing at long intervals. I'd also get one with a belt fastening strap as well to keep it from flopping around.
