Don Hume

A revolver needs a quality leather holster. I purchased a Don Hume thumb break pancake style holster ten years ago for my four inch 686. Good concealment holster under a light jacket.

The Fedders family, very nice folks in Ely, MN, purchased Lobo Gun Leather from me a little over 3 years ago and continue to offer my Enhanced Pancake model that evolved over my 43 years in the leather business. In my (not so humble) opinion it is the best pancake-style design to come along since Roy Baker started the pancake style over 50 years ago.

Hit up Google for Lobo Gun Leather and have a look at the website. You won't find better quality or better customer service.

I've been carrying my 4 inch Model 65-1 in a Bianchi Model 7 Shadow 2 pancake almost daily since I retired in August. Unless I'm having a "bad hip day" it's nearly unnoticeable. (Those days I opt for my Model 12-2.) You may have to order it on line, but you won't have to wait.

I would suggest checking out Simply Rugged, Side Guard Holsters, Kramer Handgun Leather, or TT Gunleather.

My local guy made this:

He's pretty reasonable - I think his current rate is $75 for this one. If you want a fancier holster the price goes up, which I haven't splurged for yet.

Let me know if you want his contact info.

I had a Simply Rugged for my 686 three inch. Unfortunately I left it in the living room one day.My male Bouvier des Flanders thought it was a chew toy.I will be getting another one.

I'll add another good word about Simply Rugged Holsters. There are lots of good ones, but for my money and my use, my Simply Rugged Holsters rise to the top! Good folks to do business with too!

I’ve had great success with two Leather makers: Wes Dahl at Privateer Leather and Paul Tripodi at Warbird Leather. Both superb craftsmanship and customer service. Highly endorse both.

If money is no object - Kramer Horsehide Custom OW Belt Scabbard is super strong, light weight and IMHO the best I've come across to date! Will run about $125 or so. His design is built right and lasts almost forever so the need for straps, snaps, screws, velcro, springs are just not needed for retention and yet draw is excellent - I like that !!

The commercial holster makers offer off the shelf convenience, lower prices of course and they will fit the bill for short ocassional carry.

Since the gun you are asking about is so big and heavy I would think that a holster that will be used a lot should be the strongest and lightest as well as being the highest functioning holster I know of - which is Kramer Leather. His double thick Horsehide Belts are also TOP SHELF! After owning some of his Horsehide holsters for guns I cary very often, I'm done with Cowhide holsters - unless it is for Range only use, hunting or Cowboy Action events that just don't require the toughness and longevity of an every day use holster gets.

Was gonna put this up for sale in the classifieds tomorrow and saw your thread. It’s a Rob Leahy Simply Rugged for a 4” L frame. Comes with a HKS 6 shot speed loader and an HKS leather holder. From a friend’s estate, used but in great shape. 55.00 shipped, if interested PM me. Larry
