I have never been a fan of Kydex holsters so I have been looking for a leather IWB/OWB holster for my Sig P365. I keep going back and forth between the Simply Rugged Defcon 3 and the Wright Leather Works Cobra Hybrid. It seems that the users of each love them with no mention of the other. I never thought about using this forum until one of the discussions sent me here.
Has anyone had experience with both so that they might help me in making my decision. At this point, from what I've read, it doesn't seem that I can really go wrong either way.

Both are 'convertible' pancakes, that can be used IWB, too. From the images it appears you'll get the same result from either.

But. Both are bulky even for pancakes; and can't be ideal for then stuffing inside one's pants. My experience with holster designs that try to be multifunction is that they do none of their functions ideally.

So: if I were you, I'd choose one holster (neither of those), to be worn one way only; that does it with the minimum amount of leather. In both cases these holsters sheer size and bulk have overwhelmed the size and bulk pistol itself.

I appreciate Red's opinion, but my experience with Simply Rugged holsters has been universally excellent. I don't find them to be a problem at all, at least as far as being used for OWB carry. I do find them to present about as small a print underneath a cover garment as any OWB I've ever worn. They securely hold both my snub nosed revolvers and my Shield sized semi autos extremely well, allow a full grip for the draw, and are also very comfortable in the process! I do not wear them cross draw, but the extra slot to allow that in the "skirt" of the holster has created no problems for me. I like the size of the overall pattern since the complete holster is spread over a bit larger area and the flexibility of the complete rig allows the whole thing to be held very closely to my body and does not allow the rig to flop outward while holding the grips of the gun closely to my body. The complete holster and firearm combination easily fits the same contour as my belt after breaking in is complete, which doesn't take very long. All this reduces printing. In fact, my SR holsters do not print measureably more than any of my IWB holsters do! They present a very smooth and rounded profile that does not catch on anything or show up as a large lump on my waistband.

My holsters do not have a reinforced mouth to ease reholstering, yet this has not been a problem for me with these holsters. Understand that I do NOT reholster quickly or without giving that task my full attention. Reholstering does not require being done quickly, but it does require full attention while being done. A fast smooth draw is an attribute, but a fast reholster is a recipe for trouble, IMO. These holsters meet my needs very well. The vendor provides excellent service at a reasonable price.

I have 2 Simply Rugged holsters. One for my 1911 45 an one for my
four in. 21-4 44 special. I never carry IWB but I do have the clips to
allow for that type carry. I will say Simply Rugged have been very
helpful and good delivery times and they carry all day with no problems.
Also, I can't really answer your question as to which is best as I have
no knowledge of the Wright Leather product.

Thank you Ken! As I stated, I also appreciate Red's opinion. Many of us who regularly carry concealed share his view. My personal experience is that I carried a Sig Ultra Compact 1911 .45 in an IWB reinforced Don Hume holster with no problems of concealability or comfort.

Psssst -- it's not 'reholstering'. It's 'holstering'. We designer/makers professionals create our holsters so that the pistol can be pointed back into them without any more than due deliberation, based on muscle memory. If one is in a gunfight, there is so much working against you emotionally that it has affected your physical coordination, too; one loses fine muscle control, for example, and develops tunnel vision.

Having to take a lot of care when holstering is created by striker-fired pistols; and experienced, trained user of prior pistols can have confidence in his pistol alone if his automatic reaction is to keep his finger out of the guard lest it catch on the holster's mouth.

I replace my buyers' instincts with my own, and refuse to make holsters for striker-fired pistols. They think modern holsters provide the same level of protection for strikers as they do for 1911s but they do NOT. Nothing about any holster prevents a striker from being fired (1) holstered, (2) drawing (3) holstering. They just LOOK like they do.

Any doubt, look through this forum for a prior discussion of all of Safariland's a/ds with Kydex holsters and 'lighted' Glocks. Then one can explain it yet not be able to excuse it :-).
