I just got an early Desantis shoulder holster for a revolver. It hasn't arrived yet, so I can't try my guns in it. The holster is marked 43 and the cartridge carrier is marked 44. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.

1992 fit chart

The holster fit chart with my 1992 DeSantis catalog is decidedly unhandy for working backwards. Besides numbers being used for different handguns with similar frame sizes and barrel lengths sometimes different numbers are used for the same handgun in different style holsters. (Follow that???)

In the 1992 chart, 43 indicates a 3 inch barrel S&W N-frame and 44 indicates a 4 inch barrel N-frame.

This series is straightforward enough with 46 being a 6 inch and 48 an 8 inch N-frame.

K-frames are 11, 12, 13, 14 and 16 (with overlap) and L-frames are thirties - also for Colt E/I frames.

J-frames are 01 and 02, unless they're an S1 or G1 - all 2 inch.

Not intuitive, but not nearly approaching Bucheimer complexity.

May I ask why would you buy a holster that's not a collectible without knowing what it fits?

Because I got it at a decent price and I know it will fit a gun I own. Collectability is not an issue. Just wondering if there is an old fit chart.

I expect that GerSan meant that we do buy collectible holsters that don't necessarily fit our guns, because they have a value of their own. The (maybe) El Paso Saddlery I bought recently was big-noted as for the 5-1/2" Colt SAA but instead it is quite precisely for a medium frame DA revolver with adjustable rear sights (the mouth is notched quite precisely for the sight) but it mattered not to me; it was the holster I wanted for its own value, what it fit is incidental.

Exactly what Red said. Asking about a fit chart and apparently needing to "try" guns in it makes it sound like you bought an unknown, as opposed to buying a holster for a specific gun. And I don't think I'm too far afield by saying DeSantis, while they are usually nice holsters, are not what would be considered collectible.
Whatever. Just trying to understand the motivation. As long as it works for you, that's all that counts.
